Joker

Today is a good day for crime. I can feel it in the air. Looking at the clock next to my bed, though, I see that it's 1:30 AM. Damn it.

Or......

No. No. There is no "or". We are going back to sleep, and at 5:00, we are going to cause chaos. When everyone is just starting the early morning shift and confused, unable to lift their tired, bleary eyes off their first cup of coffee. That is what we are doing.

Fine. But when things go wrong, don't blame me.

What?

......

Answer me!

.........

God damn it. He always goes silent when I need him.

I turn, wrapping my arms around Harley and drifting off again.

I finish pulling on my shoes. Harley loads her guns and grabs her bat.

"You ready?" I ask.

She giggles, cocking her gun. "I always am, Puddin."

I pull her in for a kiss. "Let's do it."

Gotham City Bank

It's 6:00 in the morning. Gotham is waking up, the drug-filled streets coming alive as the sun breaks the clouds and illuminates the cesspool of crime we call home.

Harley swings out of the car, bat in hand.

Suddenly, a crow falls to the ground right in front of her, dead. She yelps and jumps backwards, looking at me nervously. "Puddin.... that's a bad sign," she says nervously.

I chuckle. "You're so superstitious, babydoll," I say, pulling an AK-47 out of the car.

She stops me, shaking her head fearfully. "No, seriously. That's a bad omen. Let's just go home," she says.

I stop and face her.  "Seriously?" I ask. "What does it even mean?"

She looks at me, worry etched into every line of her face. "It means somebody's going to die."

I stop.

And then laugh. "Princess, those are just old wive's tales. We're gonna be fine. Now let's go fuck some bank workers up."

She pauses, torn between her fear and her desire to cause chaos.

"Fine," she says. "But if I see one more bad omen, we're going home. Got it?" I nod, hefting the grenade launcher. She grins, forgetting her fears. "Let's do it."
