𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐋𝐨𝐧𝐠 𝐖𝐚𝐲 - 𝐃𝐚𝐧𝐢𝐞𝐥 𝐑𝐢𝐜𝐜𝐢𝐚𝐫𝐝𝐨

𝐬𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐧

Seeing as there was a doubleheader in Austria the majority of the drivers were walking around the city that they were about to call home for the next ten or so days.

"You okay?" 𝐌𝐀𝐗 𝐕𝐄𝐑𝐒𝐓𝐀𝐏𝐏𝐄𝐍 asked as he saw that the girl was slowing down,

"When they said that they thought that it would be warm they were kidding," Carolina tried to joke but she just shivered instead,

"Is someone feeling a bit cold?" The Dutchman joked as he obviously found this amusing to an extent,

"I stopped caring about the fact that I couldn't feel my feet like thirty minutes ago." The German confessed as she wrapped her arms around herself trying to produce some kind of heat,

"Let's go," the Redbull driver ran his fingers through his hair,

"Huh?" The Ferrari driver cocked her head as she was confused,

"I wanted an excuse to get out of this walk," Max confessed as he got bored during the first few minutes,

"And there is a cafe down the road that I'm sure will serve something to make you get warmed up." He added as he could tell that the girl was obviously miserable,

And it would be nice for them to get a moment to talk where it is just the two of them.

"Well it seems that the boys are already ahead of us anyways so lead the way," Carolina nodded as she sent him a smile before motioning for me to start walking.

Anna was starting to fall asleep in her father's lap when the tone of the story changed.

"Mum and uncle Max were friends?" Anna let out a gasp as she looked at her dad,

"Why do you sound surprised?" Jack asked as he cocked his head,

"Because they fight each other on the track," the girl shrugged as she couldn't really think about a logical reason,

She was just surprised.

"We all do," although Daniel had stepped back from racing he still felt like he hadn't left as he was in his wife's paddock as much as he could be.

"I even proposed to your mum at a track during race weekend." He added with a smile remembering how it completely went against the plan that he had to propose later that week,

He had never been so relieved that he brought the ring along for the weekend.

"Let's hear that story!" Anna gasped as she sat up,

"That comes later in this story," Daniel shook his head,

"But-" the girl furrowed her eyebrows as she pouted,

"If I skip straight to that then you'll end up missing all of the good stuff." Their father explained with a smile,

"What's the good stuff?" Jack as he grew curious,

"Wait and find out," Daniel seemed to enjoy making his kids and his wife be patient.

Max was celebrating the fact that he had won both races at the Redbull ring.

"I'm starting to think you're a bit of a Redbull fan," Daniel joked as he saw the girl was wearing a Redbull cap,

Max had placed it on her head about an hour ago and by the time she remembered it was still there she knew that her hair would be ruined by the cap so it was staying on her head until further notice.

"Trying to make a move for Perez's seat for next season?" He added as he sat down next to her.

"Please," Carolina let out a snort as she rolled her eyes,

"You and I both know that I would move to Mercedes beforehand," she always seemed to be up against Redbull cars so it wasn't a team she was about to start racing for.

"And besides I seem to be collecting driver caps now," the girl pointed up to the cap,

"Why exactly?" The Australian cocked his head as this was the first that he was hearing of this,

"I don't know," the German shrugged as she just landed up getting caps each weekend,

"I somehow got thirteen driver caps and now I'm just going for the other six," she added as she smiled,

"Seven," the McLaren driver was quick to correct her maths,

"I'm the seventh driver," the Ferrari driver explained in a duh tone,

"And I'm not counting my own cap cause I already have plenty of those," she added as she hadn't added one of her own yet as she wanted hers to be the final addition to the official collection.

"You're missing mine," Daniel quickly thought about it and didn't think she had one of his,

"How'd you know?" Carolina slowly nodded as he was indeed correct,

"Because I haven't given you one," the Australian spoke in a duh tone,

"I'll get one off of you eventually," the German shrugged as she knew that he was one of the easier drivers to get one from,

"There are new caps coming out for Silverstone so I'll get one to you for then." The McLaren driver made the mental note to make sure that she got one,

"Did you finally take my advice with the pink?" The Ferrari driver let out a gasp,

She had suggested the new colour scheme to him when they were getting coffee once and always hoped that he would eventually go with it.

"You'll have to wait to find out," Daniel sent her a toothy grin as he watched her respond with a glare,

"Don't leave me hanging like that," Carolina groaned as she wasn't too impressed right now,

"We still have a long time before we get to England," the boy reminded her,

"I promise the wait will be worth it," he added now hoping that the surprise would not disappoint.
