"Please, father! I don't have anywhere to go!" she pleaded, terrified.
"I don't care! Live on the streets, if you must! But no child of mine is going to be like that! Now out!"
"But, father-"
"OUT!!!"
She grabbed her bag and rushed out the door, tears streaming down her face. She walked for hours when she finally was too tired to go on. She walked over to a seat to rest. She ran her hand over her stomach.
"I wanted to keep you. Now I can't. I'm sorry."

Her baby lay swaddled in a basket as she placed him delicately on the porch of a house. She pressed a kiss to her son's tiny head, smiled him to make him smile, then she backed and ran away.
She heard his scared, fearful cries, but she pushed forward. She couldn't keep him.
"I'm sorry, my son. I truly am."
