MACUSA cells

Tina, Newt, and Poppy were being escorted from the cell in handcuffs. Newt turned around abruptly, walking backwards for a hot second.

"It was a pleasure to make your acquaintance, Jacob. And I hope you get your bakery." he said.

Then, he turned around and continued walking down the hall. They were led into an interrogation room, where Newt was sat down for questioning.

Graves sat down across from him moments later and opened a file. He folded his hands and rested his elbows on the table.

"You're an interesting man, Mr. Scamander." Newt sat in silence, so Graves continued "Thrown out of Hogwarts for endangering human life."

Poppy gave a small look of surprise. Her little brother ENDANGERED someone's life?!

"That was an accident." Newt implied.

"With a beast." Graves added "Yet, one of your teachers argued strongly against your expulsion. Now tell me, what makes Albus Dumbledore, so fond of you?"

Poppy gave a small smile. Professor Dumbledore always liked Newt. She always saw that whenever Hufflepuff and Ravenclaw had joint Defense Against the Dark Arts lessons together.

"I really couldn't say." Newt said shortly.

"So, setting a pack of dangerous magical creatures here was just another accident? Is that correct?" Graves asked.

Newt gave him a quick glance up "Why would I do that deliberately?"

"To expose wizardkind. To provoke war between the magical and non-magical communities." graves listed off, rather inquisitively.

"Mass slaughter for the greater good, you mean." Newt said to him.

Graves glanced behind him at the guards beside Poppy and Tina "Yes. Quite."

Newt sighed "I'm not one of Grindelwald's fanatics, Mr. Graves."

Graves looked Newt up and down before continuing "I wonder what you could tell of this, Mr. Scamander."

He held up his hand and produced a swirling black cloud of magic. Dark magic. Newt saw it and turned around quickly. He made direct eye with Tina, almost like she was the only one who he cared to believe him.

"It's an obscurus. But it's not what you think, Tina. I managed to separate it from the Sudanese girl as I tried to save her as I tried to save her. I wanted to take it home to study it."

"So, it's useless without the host?" Graves inquired. He sounded rather intrigued by the Obscurus.

Newt looked at him "Useless? Useless!" Newt started to sound angry. He looked at the Obscurus "That is a parasitical magical force that killed a child. What on earth would you use it for?"
