Adelina's POV

It was easy waking up before. When we were lucky enough to sleep we woke up and began working on whichever mission we were on at the time or other work we needed to do. An easy cycle. Waking up to laughter and screaming was strange. I walk out of my room to find Leone and Valentino being chased by angry Matias, Alexei, and Mateo who all sported different colors of hair, pink, blue, purple.

I ignore them and greet Santi and Luca who also walk out of their rooms to see what is happening. Luis comes out a few moments later and he looks us over with a guarded look that screams guilt and sadness. Unlike the three of us, he learned to guard his emotions. We lost ours. While psychotic The Aces managed to find happiness and all the other emotions across the spectrum. It inspired a bit of jealousy but it made sense, we were turned into robots for the Nightmares, The Aces were made into monsters. Luis seems not to have taken anything I said yesterday to heart and I don't blame him. It's hard to listen to someone who does not even have a heart anymore. Someone who kills for little reason other than being told to. Robotic movements fit for the Unseen Nightmares just as they trained us.

We head down to the kitchen where everyone gathers in the mornings. It seems strange but we watched from afar for years and knew more about everyone than they thought we did. While all the parents and oldest brothers were in the kitchen the only one of the younger kids in the room was Luis who was eating quietly to the side. All the other siblings were lost somewhere in the giant mansion, some still on the run or on the chase due to the early morning prank, anyone else was still in bed. It was anyone's guess as to where Emmy, Emilio, and Ezequiel were.

As expected we were greeted with an exuberant amount of happiness and cheer. The emotions seem to be real as they thrust all the foods we once loved at us. For them, they got back their lost children. For us, we just came home numb from our own odyssey. We were disconnected wires that no longer fit and yet they were trying anyway.

We accept some food from them and sit to eat as various people try to pull us into conversations about our lives. We engage letting them enjoy their happiness until Emilio, Emmy, and Ezequiel walk in covered in blood clearly just back from a mission they shouldn't have been on. They were locked out of all Nightmare files while that wouldn't stop them it would be difficult for them to get jobs through the organization.

Emmalyn's POV

"Miss?"

I turn to face one of this mafia's guards. It has become obvious to me why so many hire Unseen Nightmares for help with security as I look at all these men. I could kill them all easily if I so wished but instead, I follow Emilio back into the house. We can come and go as we please and that man should be counting his lucky stars I didn't decide to end his life for his stupidity. Ezequiel is trailing behind me and seems to handle the guy as they open the doors for us as they should.

We head to the kitchen where I intend to make us a breakfast that helps us build up our tolerance for my new toxin.

We walk into the kitchen and find various people invading the space and I sigh. I ignore them and get to work baking muffins. I feel their eyes on me and I sigh, "Whyever are you staring? It's rude."

"Dear, why are the three of you covered in blood?"

I glance down at my dress and pout, "The dummy just decided to bleed everywhere."

I hum as I begin to stir ingredients together, "Sweetheart, who was this person?"
"Hm, what person?" I look at them as they watch us.

"They guy who bled everywhere Ems," Adelina cuts in, and Emilio and Ezequiel glare at her.

I shrug, "A guy who's dead." I feel rather than see the mafia family still as Emilio helps me put the batter into a baking tray.

"How'd you even find someone to kill?"

I turn to one of the mafia sons who is clearly stupider than the rest, "Someone asked us too and it wasn't someone it was multiple people."

Multiple questions arose and I roll my eyes as the oven beeps signaling that it is heated. I put the muffins in and set the timer. "We get all kinds of jobs constantly. Why is it oh so confusing? And we would never take a job so boring where only one death is involved." While we have taken jobs where there was only one target we always made them more interesting. The guy we poisoned at the club would kill anyone he kissed as he passed to them a deadly germ that would stay undetected until the person was gone. He killed two hookups by the time he died. The girls were said to have died from the flu and the man was never suspected of being involved.

"Dear, maybe you should cease with the jobs- for a while at least."

"I turn to the woman, now whyever would we do that for?"

"Because Ems, a whole assassin organization is after you."

I shrug simply to my sister, "We have it handled." We are the ones in charge and we would let them help but we had the power and can do whatever we wish with it. I turn to the woman who spoke before, Natalia Lombardi, "Could you please take these out when the timer bings we must go change? It would be upsetting to let the creature's blood ruin my time enjoying breakfast."

I leave the room without giving her time to reply as most people do. She would do what I asked of her because that was what we deserved. They respected us and gave us nicknames. It was easy to get them to do as we told them.
