Pieces of wood, side by side
bit of love on top
that was us
Stroke the match, twice
red-orange is all I saw
flames
they were truly aiming for the stars
I watched as they rose and fell
magic, pure magic
Before we knew it
we were engulfed by the fire
blazing
you had the ignited the fire in me
Burning, free souls
brought together by the fire within them
happiness, pure joy
blazing
I had ignited the fire in you
Time was never on our side
eventually our fire died
two good pieces of wood,
finally burnt out
I was lost
darkened were our skies
Our love lost in a single flame
couldn't believe my eyes
Fire's gone
hot greyish ash
one dead match
smoke
sign of defeat
it was over
Ashes were back to ashes
dust back to dust
lovers back to strangers
everything had ended.
