Maya's POV

Ok you can do this Maya. Just rip the band-aid off. But it's josh. Maya stop overthinking.
I am waiting at Topanga's exactly at 4 and I see no one. Wait is that... geez what are these guys doing here?
"Guys I told Riley not to be here and she got all of you. C'mon Riles!"
"I'm sorry I just really wanna see what happens?" She looks at me with that puppy eyed face and so does Lucas and Farkle.
"Uh fine. Just be a little out of sight ok. I'm already nervous."
"Yeah we will be don't worry."
I see Josh. He's nervous too. Okay this is going well so far....
"Hey Maya."
"Hey"
"You're here to break up aren't you?"
"Uhh umm how do you ..." I can't find any words. How does he know?
"I know you Maya. You've always looked at me like in a different way, actually a good way. But today you're nervous."
"Look Josh I like you. It's just something different with Lucas that I don't entirely understand."
"I do."
"What?"
"I understand Maya. You know how at ski lodge I told you I observe people around me. Well I still do that and he loves you. I've known that but I didn't think you would too until I saw.."
"Me performing on that song?"
"No."
"Wait what?"
"Until I saw you getting affected by how much you hurt him."
"How did you know this? Even I don't think I know this."
"I know you. You care about him. And the idea of you hurting him affected you so much so never realised it. Nobody did. But I thought I should give you time to realise it."
"Why?"
"Because a few years back I didn't."
"You mean ski lodge?"
"Yeah. I kinda came in the picture all of a sudden and made you realise that you didn't like Lucas. But maybe you did. I'm sorry for that."
"Hey no it's okay. It's not your fault. I would've backed out for Riley anyway and I know she wouldn't let me so I guess you did us all a favour. Now she and Farkle are happy and I .. I don't know where I am but let's see."
We both smile at each other.
"I still want you as my friend though. Is it ok Maya?"
"Of course josh. You're Riley's family. I want you in my life."
"Thanks. I should go and hey can I tell you something?"
"Yeah."
"You do know where you are. You're in love with the blondie. Stop denying it."
And he went away. I never thought this break up would go like this. Am I in love with Lucas? Why does everyone keeps saying that? Am I ? Can I flip a coin? I'm so tired. Why am I a part of so many triangles ?

And then I see my three crazy friends coming towards me.
"Hey peaches how did it go?"
"Quite well actually. He knew it was gonna happen. I think he knows too much. Maybe more than we all do."
"Wait what did he say to you Maya?" Lucas finally says something.
"You can speak huckleberry? You've been quiet so much I thought you lost the will to speak?"
"I was just waiting for you to make fun of me I guess."
"I still won't get to you will I ?"
"Nope ma'am. But I like to see you try." Ok that's it. I go really close to him and I think I heard his heartbeat getting really fast. But I don't care.
"Hahurrrr....."
"You feel good now?"
"Yeah I do."
"Just like old times." I heard him murmur to himself.

Lucas' POV
It's been a month since Maya's break up and nothing. She hasn't said anything about us and I am too afraid to ask. Does she like me ? I don't know what to do.
We all are sitting in the cafeteria and Maya is kind of busy with some art stuff so she said she'll be late. Well it's a good thing I can talk to Riley and Farkle.
"Guys junior prom is coming and Maya and I still haven't talked about you know us.."
"Lucas she was figuring things out and I know you both are too chicken to actually have the conversation. So just ask her to the prom. I'm sure she'll say yes."
"Yeah Riley's right Lucas. You gotta take the initiative unless you want semi formal to repeat."
Ohh noo.. I don't want that. No... No no no..
"No I won't let that happen. I'll ask her. What should I do?"
"She's not much off a show off just ask her okay."
They both look annoyed. Ok I've been too worked up about this lately. I get it.
"Fine I'll go."
I find Maya drying off her paintings and keeping them in the shelf in the art room.
"Umm hey Maya."
"Hey Ranger Rick. Aren't you supposed to be at the cafeteria?"
"Yeah I just wanted to ask you something."
"Shoot."
"Well i was wondering if you'd like to go to the prom with me. I mean it's not like we've dates and you know that Riley and Farkle will go together soo.."
Oh why did I say that now it looks like she's my back up.
"Well Ranger Rick I already got a date."
"Whattt? Why? I mean what?"
I'm shocked. I can't believe that I'm late again.
"I'm just kidding. Gee you looked so worried. I wonder why since I'm your back up." She said sarcastically.
"No you're not Maya."
"Then why did you ask me like that?"
"Yeah I know it was stupid. I got flustered. I'm sorry. Let me start again. Maya Penelope Hart would you do me the honours to go the junior prom with me?"
"Penelope? Seriously?" She chuckles.
"Just answer please."
"Okay huckleberry I will."
