"Why the hell did the psycho come back with us?" Dabi growled at Giran as he looked at the bed he and Cora had been sharing to see Toga now snuggling Cora in her sleep.
"She didn't have anywhere to go and Cora seemed to like her." Giran shrugged.
"She's just nice." Dabi sighed and trudged back out to the living room. He dropped onto the sofa with a sigh.
Giran joined him, taking a drag off another cigarette. "I'm sure Shigaraki will accept you both."
"I didn't like that he was so interested in Cora." Dabi said quietly.
"She's an interesting girl, I can't blame him. She'd be an asset to them for sure, but-...I can understand why you'd want to keep her away from it all. It will probably only get more dangerous." Giran finished his cigarette and dropped it in an ash tray atop the coffee table.
"She's not a fighter." Dabi frowned. He didn't want her to get involved with The League, it was dangerous and she couldn't protect herself.
"I don't know, she managed okay against those scumbag cops." Giran noted.
"It was purely fight or flight...and she still got shot." Dabi ran his hands through his hair.
Giran nodded, "you can protect her."
Dabi hesitated, his thoughts darkening. "...what if I can't?"
"You'd probably die trying." Giran said with a shrug, "you were ready to give me a kidney for her when I have absolutely no medical knowledge or surgical supplies." He chuckled.
Dabi's lips quirked into a faint smirk. "I owe her a great deal."
"Is that all?" Giran pondered.
Dabi shot him a dark look, "goodnight." He grumbled and shifted his position so he was laying on the couch before begrudgingly closing his eyes.
Giran sighed and settled into the comfy recliner next to the sofa. He closed his eyes and drifted to sleep.
Dabi jolted awake to the sound of something cooking in a frying pan. He looked around and saw Giran in the kitchen. Slowly, he got up off the couch and went to retrieve Cora's medication before heading to the room she'd shared with the psycho the night before. He found Cora sleeping soundly despite being practically strangled in Toga's hold.
"Get off of her psycho." Dabi growled and pried Toga off of Cora causing them both to stir awake. He placed a hand to Cora's forehead, she was still a little warm but her fever had come down a great deal since she'd been resting. "I need you to sit up so you can take these." He pressed the pills into her hand.
Cora stiffly sat up with Toga's help.
Toga glanced at the bandages covering Cora's chest and shoulder, revealed by the loose tank top she was wearing. They'd started to come undone in her fretful sleep revealing some bubbled up scorched flesh beneath. Her maniacal gold eyes flicked to Dabi, "those look like burns." She watched Dabi carefully, her hand reaching for a concealed blade.
"He cauterized it for me so I wouldn't bleed to death." Cora spoke up in a weak voice. As she shakily took the medicine Dabi gave her and downed it with the glass of water he offered her.
Toga released the knife from her grip, leaving it tucked within her clothing.
Dabi kept an eye on the psycho. She was protective of Cora, also a bit deranged but so far she didn't seem to pose her much of a threat. Perhaps she wasn't so bad, if she had an interest in keeping Cora safe.
"You two are pretty close, huh?" Toga looked between the blind girl and the scarred man curiously.
Cora nodded, "he saved my life."
