Giran had returned with a new phone for Cora, some clothes and a huge cheesecake that was probably the most delicious thing she'd ever eaten. After a few days of bedrest, Cora's wounds had scarred over and her watchful caretakers allowed her to get out of bed.
Feeling better than she had in a very long time and finally free from her captors, Cora practically skipped out of the bedroom once her caretakers gave her the all clear. Dabi looked up from his bowl of ramen with a smile as Cora skipped into the living room. He reached a hand out as she tripped over a small step between the hall and living room that she had a hard time seeing with her vantage point. She fell as he had predicted and he caught her with ease and shook his head while concealing a smile.
"You're feeling better." He remarked.
"Much." Cora straightened herself up, her cheeks reddening, "thanks for taking care of me."
Dabi glanced upward, where he sensed her gaze coming from and offered her a smile, "anytime."
Cora blushed, whenever he did that, she felt like he was seeing into her soul. She dropped onto the chair next to him at the counter. "Now that I'm feeling better, can we go on adventures?" She asked.
Dabi thought for a moment, "what kind of adventures?"
"Honestly I'd probably have a blast taking public transportation to a grocery store or something." Cora laughed.
Dabi's smile became strained. She'd been held captive and under such tight guard that she hadn't ever got to experience boring everyday tasks like grocery shopping. It was sad that that was what she found exciting. "We can do that too, but how about something a little more fun."
"Like what?" Cora asked excitedly.
"It's getting warmer out, so we could go to the beach." Dabi suggested.
"Really?!" Cora asked in awe, her face lighting up.
Dabi smiled, her excitement was so pure and infectious. "Really."
Cora's excitement suddenly dwindled as she thought of Toga who was currently napping on the sofa. "What about Himiko?"
Dabi let out a sigh, "she can come too."
"You mean it?" Cora was back to being unabashedly excited.
Dabi chuckled, "yeah, I guess the psycho has grown on me a bit."
Cora scrambled over to the sofa with a quiet cheer. She dropped onto her knees next to the sofa and gently placed a hand on Toga's shoulder. "Himiko-chan? Do you want to go on an adventure?" She asked excitedly.
Toga woke with a start, seeming surprised the blind girl had managed to sneak up on her. "What kind of adventure?"
"We're going to go to the beach and then go grocery shopping!" Cora cheered.
Toga threw a curious look at Dabi. Cora sounded way too excited about grocery shopping, "Cora-chan, I don't know if grocery shopping counts as an ad-." She cut off as Dabi threw her a very menacing look, "-sounds fun, let's go!"
Cora grinned, "this is going to be so much fun."
"Go get ready." Dabi waved her off to change out of her pajamas.
Cora skipped away happily. She returned moments later in a pair of capris leggings, a long flowy tank top that fit almost like a dress and a matching half jacket. Dabi finished his ramen and put his dish in the sink before heading for the door. Toga looped her arm through Cora's and happily skipped with her to the door.
As the three of them left the safe house. The phone Giran had given Cora began to vibrate in her pocket. She jumped and hurriedly picked it up. "Is everything okay, Giran?" She asked and focused on him. He was sitting in a dark smoky bar next to some unsavory looking folks.
