Cora: Age 10
Toya: Age 13
Over the next few days, Cora led Endeavor and Mono on a wild goose chase as she desperately tried to come up with some sort of exit strategy. One day in their trek her vision shifted to a corpse, smashed on a rocky surface before getting dragged out to sea. She zoomed out a little, it was on an island just off the coast of the northwestern tip of the Nagasaki prefecture. The cliffs formed a strange honeycomb like pattern and looked horribly dangerous. From what she saw of the corpse getting pulled out to sea it was entirely possible for bodies to go missing after an accident and get lost at sea.
In order for Toya to truly be free, he'd have to die. She lured them to the secluded island of Ikitsuki. Endeavor had yet to ask about his son's wellbeing and as the days ticked by, he only seemed to grow more irritable. Cora had a feeling her earlier suspicions had been correct; Endeavor was just trying to save face. By the time they'd crossed the massive bridge connecting Ikitsuki to the mainland, it began to rain.
Endeavor scowled down at the blind girl walking a few paces ahead of him. Her gait was slow and unsteady due to the cuts on her feet. His annoying companion had insisted they get the girl some shoes. It didn't seem to matter the cuts on her feet were already bad enough the shoes just seemed to irritate them more.
Something had changed in the girl since the night she'd snuck out of their hotel when they'd first arrived in Nagasaki. She was less reluctant to help and offer information. Endeavor was suspicious. He wasn't sure why but he had a feeling the information she was feeding them was less accurate than before, but he didn't understand why she would lie.
"Why the hell would he come here?" He growled losing his patience, "are you sure he's here?"
Cora tensed slightly, "yes."
"It seems highly suspect that he keeps slipping away from us when we get close." Endeavor glared down at the scrawny girl with distrust.
Cora clenched her fists at her sides, "...yes...it seems like he's running from someone..." She said icily.
Endeavor reached for her, having had enough of her sass.
Without skipping a beat, she picked up her pace, avoiding his grasp and put the very weary looking young officer between them. She slipped her hand in his easily pulling him in with her cute childish charm. Mono smiled down at the child. She seemed much livelier and affectionate than when they'd first met.
Endeavor scowled at the child. It was unnerving. He felt like she was toying with them and stringing them along. She had Mono wrapped around her little finger. The young officer had even mentioned to him in confidence that he was thinking of seeing if he could adopt her and get her out of that hell of an orphanage, she'd been in. Endeavor didn't understand what her motive could be for stringing them along. She was crafty. He'd have to keep a closer eye on her.
Cora did a quick sweep of the area and almost smiled with glee as she spotted a teenager with dark red hair, he was heading in the direction of the cliffs with some friends in the midst of a tour group. They were at a far enough distance she could fool Endeavor into thinking he saw Toya. She had to time it just right as the boy was about to leave their line of sight.
"He's heading toward the cliffs." She said quietly, though she'd checked on Toya just before they'd arrived, he hopped another train and was headed to Osaka. He finally looked relaxed putting his faith in her to keep his father off his trail.
