Part 49

The guy standing in front of Sophie today is the guy who, once at a time, dreamed of a future where they would be happy with one other. The guy who, throughout her adolescent years, could make her feel very pleased. She has previously let the guy down. And even the most unexpected of men will come across each other again.

"Nick?" she inquired in hushed tones. The expression on her face had altered a little, becoming more mature and attractive than before. Nick gave her a lovely grin as he looked her in the eyes. From that point on, he stared at Sophie with a blank expression. After finishing his shift and heading home, he happened to see a familiar face as he traversed the hospital lobby area to his car. Sophie has already begun to seem more mature, as was predicted.

On the other hand, this lady still has the qualities that previously managed to capture his heart.

Her eyes were still fixed on Nick with the same expression as before. Although she had a ripple of boredom on her face, she smiled when Nick chastised her. But, as Nick Heart continued to stare at that face in silence, he couldn't help but wonder: why was there a sorrowful ripple on that beautiful face? Why do the corners of the eyes seem to be so precise?

"How are you doing, Sophie?" Nick inquired as Sophie's gaze moved from one end of her body to the other. She did not instantly expose her tummy, which should have been a bit protruding from her seat on the couch. Nick is aware that Sophie is now pregnant and that her pregnancy has progressed to the second trimester of its course. He recalled Henry's comments, which he remembered as joyful when they first met two months ago.

"How are you doing?"

"I'm OK... how about you?" Nick is brought back into the real world by Sophie's kind replies and probing inquiries. The fantasy that came to a halt for a bit of time seemed to mock him. What is the point of regretting previous errors again? It's all starting to make no sense anymore.

"Think about it this way." The two of them remained quiet for a while as if they couldn't afford to continue talking. It's all messed up. It was this unexpected encounter that caused them to feel restless in their hearts.

"Do you have a medical check-up here, or are you just passing through? How many months are you expecting a child?" I'm not sure how he knows I'm expecting a child. Sophie comes in second place in the heart. It is believed that her pregnancy is not yet apparent since she is in this posture. After all, she is still dressed in a traditional kurung at this moment. "Did you come by yourself? Or are you just sitting around waiting for your spouse to come pick you up?"

"Im just waiting the arrival of our driver, he is running a bit late since he needs to transport my father-in-law to the KLIA. Henry is unable to keep me company today due to his commitments."

Is it permissible for a pregnant woman to travel alone in this situation? Isn't he concerned about the state of her wife's health? What is the reason for her being left alone? Only once a month is all that is required. When the pregnancy is in its last months, you should see a doctor at least twice a month. Nick took the seat in front of Sophie. When Nick saw the girl's reaction, he was taken aback. His heart was in a state of amazement. Henry's eyes and face were filled with sadness as he looked at me. What is Sophie's source of dissatisfaction? The doubter himself was unable to respond to the question that had occurred to him. They were deafeningly quiet for a long time. He wants Sophie to be aware. He wants Sophie to give him an explanation for lying to him in the first place. Perhaps the location they met didn't seem right. Maybe if he brought Sophie to a more appropriate site, she'd be happier, wouldn't she?

"Have you eaten your lunch yet? I'd want to invite you to join me for lunch. I have a lot of old tales I'd want to question you about. Is it possible for me to?" He dared to invite. Nick did not express his disappointment since he was sure and confident that this was her response if she asked. As he glanced at the young lady in front of him, he cracked a grin.

"You haven't changed at all, haven't you?"

"Can you tell me what you mean...?"

"You have not changed your mind about any of the recommendations I have given."

Although she responded quietly, Nick heard her sigh forcefully as his gaze continued to linger on the lovely face in front of him.

"If the proposition does not bring slander, I may not refuse," she said. She responded with more self-assurance when questioned. It was common for every inquiry to be answered with a strong sense of guilt in the past. Who was presently engaged in conversation with the young doctor? Perhaps someone was feeling envious. Sophie remained quiet, completely ignoring Nick, who smiled in response to their scolding.

"Why did you decide to call off our engagement so quickly? I asked you to be completely honest in your response." The question was asked abruptly and without a moment's pause. Sophie sat up and paid attention to the subject being brought up once again.

"Yes, that's correct... at that time, you were with another man?" Nick inquired once again. He is impatiently awaiting Sophie's response to the first inquiry since he already knows the answer. Sophie was deafeningly quiet once again. Where is it feasible to deceive once more?

When Mike arrived to take up Sophie later that day, their meeting came to an end. With a final farewell, Sophie expresses her regret for what she had done to the guy in the past. Sophie was escorted away by Nick, who had a glazed expression on his face. The sensation that had before plagued his sleep and kept him on his alert returned to his heart. Nick, overcome with guilt, also departed the location where they were conversing.
