Pacing the team’s private hangar waiting for Thor, Bucky worried at his bottom lip running his hands through his already messy hair. He knew the god was to leave this morning for London to check up on Juno. He'd initially been worried when he’d overheard Tony, Steve and Nat say that she wasn't replying to any of their messages or answering their calls after she arrived. It was so unlike her to shut anyone out that he’d been tempted to go over to England himself to see with his own two eyes that she was okay. Everyone relaxed though when Thor told them that he would go over for his visit earlier than he intended since there wasn't anything they needed him for at the moment.
Even still, Buck was worried for her and didn't know where she was in her head space. His Juno was so clear thinking and decisive, but he'd broken her. His Juno wouldn't just stop talking to everyone let alone to the most important people in her life. So when he heard Thor was going to see her he wrote her a letter. Hoping that if she at least read it she might write him back, that there might be hope for their future. Endlessly pacing back and forth Buck got lost in his head with all of the scenarios that his letter might inspire. So much so that he didn’t hear or notice that he wasn’t alone any longer. Thor's deep voice pulled him from his troubled thoughts. “Sergeant, what are you doing here?”
Immediately stopping his pacing, he walked over to the tall blonde god dressed in normal clothes of well worn jeans, a t-shirt, a layered jacket over a hoodie and work boots. Brushing his hand over his back pocket where the letter was Bucky takes a quick deep breath. “I was hoping you would deliver a letter to Juno for me. Before you say no, hear me out.” He says holding up a hand pleading for the god to listen to him.
Surprising him, Thor doesn’t tell him to beat it. “Very well.” He inclines his head for Bucky to speak as he adjusts the strap of his duffle bag on his shoulder.
Letting out a half relieved half anxious breath Buck rushes out what he's rehearsed since last night and pulls out the sealed letter he'd taken so much care to write. “I don't want to hurt or bother her anymore than I have. I just want to let her know I'm going to try and be better. If you could just give her this for me, I would appreciate it. I love her, Thor, please.”
He can see him hesitate, but Thor eventually holds his hand out for the letter. “I can give it to her. But I can't guarantee a reply.”
Nodding quickly Buck lets out a relieved breath. “Right. Of course. Thank you. Really.” His heart flutters at the thought that he might get his girl back if this letter works. “If Juno asks, can you tell her that I love her and that I miss her?”
Pocketing the letter Thor shakes his head as he goes to step around him towards the quinjet. “I don't think that's really my place, Bucky." He says, slightly uncomfortable at being placed in the middle. The god of Thunder had been clear in not choosing a side. Though Bucky knew if it came down to it he would pick Juno and he didn’t blame him a bit. They had known each other much longer and he knew that Thor saw Juno as a little sister.
“You're right. I’m sorry. But you'll still give her the letter?” Rubbing the back of his neck Bucky tries to hold himself back from getting on the quinjet and going to see her himself if the god refuses.
He didn’t need to worry though. As much as he wasn’t a fan of his at the moment Thor didn’t like seeing either of his friends in pain like this. “I will. Now if you'll excuse me, I must be off." Only slightly defeated, Bucky watches the god walk up the ramp with his large duffel bag.
The ramp closes behind him and minutes later he's gone. Staring at the fading aircraft, Buck tucks his hands into his jean’s pockets. When Bucky had heard Thor was going to visit Juno last night he had immediately rushed back to his apartment to write that letter. He needed to tell her that he was doing what she wanted, that he was working on himself. He was going to therapy every week. In fact he’d upped his sessions to twice a week. It had helped so much that he'd been working through his amends list until he only had a couple of names left. Buck wanted her to know that he would get better to prove to her he was worthy of her love. He hoped she would reply back or better yet, call to tell him she wanted to come home. Feeling hopeful for the first time since she left Bucky headed back inside to wait for her reply.
