A few days after her talk with Bucky, Juno put in a request for leave for an undecided amount of time. Never one to take any kind of break for more than a few days unless she was off rotation in all of her time with SHIELD or later with the Avenger's Fury granted her request without a negative word spoken. Everyone knew that something had gone down between the ex's and it wasn't good, but it wasn't any of their business and after the last time they kept their noses out of it. For a little while she stayed at the Tower, but after talking to Tony he saw that she needed space, but not too much this time so he set her up in an apartment building he owned free of charge.
True to her word Jun made sure to check in every few days either at the Tower or the Compound proving that this time it was going to be different. There were no press releases about quitting because she planned to come back; she just didn't know when. She also helped Henri find an apartment of his own, well actually it was a penthouse. It might as well have been a mansion for how large it was. Two floors, five bedrooms, five full bathrooms and two half baths, an office access to its own private rooftop garden and pool.
Henri gave her time just like he told her he would. Never pushing himself or anything more than she could handle on her. He was a friend in her time of need comforting her as well as getting her back out into the world just like in London. He'd even called in reinforcements. Two days after she'd moved into her new place Charlie and Thomas arrived to spend the weekend with her. Lots of booze was drunk as well as many action movies watched that weekend, Henri's cure for a broken heart.
It was easier this time if she had to admit the truth to herself because now she knew what had been holding him back. Why he'd pushed away from her last year. Speaking of, by the time it came round to the one year anniversary of their official breakup four months after that talk on the docks she felt like she was finally ready to move on. Calling Henri she asked him to come over for dinner because she had something important to talk to him about. "Of course. Give me a time Ma petite belle and I'll be there."
"Does 7 work for you?" She asks, chewing on her thumbnail as she paces around her living room. Juno could hear his smile through the phone at her anxious tone knowing she worried that he had an important business meeting.
Since Crimson Sparrow officially opened it's new location here he'd been so busy with after work drinks or dinners to expand his client base she always made sure to call him ahead of time just to be on the safe side. "Oui, it's perfect. I'll have just enough time to go home to change. What shall I bring?"
Unsure what to tell him she shrugs before she remembers he can't see her. "Nothing, unless you want to bring something."
Chuckling at her indecisiveness he tells her he'll bring some wine. "I'll bring your favorite because you can never go wrong with a good bottle of French wine. I'll see you tonight at 7."
Hanging up Juno went through her kitchen to see what she could make for dinner and grimaces when she sees the half empty fridge and cupboards filled with mainly snack food and cans of Chunky Campbell soup. Mumbling to herself she grabs a notepad and a pen. "Yeah, I need to go shopping."
Scrolling through her trusty lifesaver, Tasty presents, she finds a recipe that was both simple and delicious. Writing up a shopping list of ingredients that was needed as well as other basic staples she grabbed her purse and headed down to the garage for her car. It wasn't a quick trip because she made sure to stock up this time so she wouldn't have to go shopping again for a while. Her only worry was getting all of the bags up to her apartment. The answer was a luggage trolley that the doorman Travis lent her when she called to ask if she could borrow one.
It took three trips, but she got all of it up to her apartment. Grateful, she thanked the older gentleman when she returned it. Tipping his burgundy hat he told her, "No need to thank me. That's what it's there for, Ms Donahue."
