Jamal's POV
It's Friday afternoon and I'm heading out the house to pick up Los. "Aye man, wassup?" Los asked getting into the car. We turned up all the way to Alana's house. The girls didn't know we had plans to take them out tonight. When we pulled up, I saw Lyrik's car sitting in the driveway.
We got out and knocked on the door. Lyrik answered the door. She had the biggest smile plastered on to her face. She hugged me and then saw that Carlos was standing right behind me. She gave him a quick hug then whispered, " She's upstairs," she motioned, " watch this." We waited. " Lana come down." I looked over to Lyrik who was dying of laughter. Not too much longer, Alana came down in her pajamas, a mask, and her hair in a messy bun. "Who's at the do--" Her eyes bugged once she saw me and Los, and she ran back upstairs. Lyrik fell out laughing. " I'll go get her." "We got something planned for yall, so tell her to get ready so we can go." Lyrik nodded her head still cracking up on her way up the stairs.
Not too much later, Lyrik came down in some blue jeans, and a black crop top with a brown leather jacket. Her hair was all curled out and her body was bangin. Alana came down in a black crop top and purple pants. Her hair was sill in a messy bun, but it worked for her. Carlos and I had some trouble on our hands.
"Can you tell us where we're going?" Lyrik asked. I just decided not to answer. Carlos and Alana didn't really talk much. There was a laugh or two, here and there, but nothing serious. The drive was cool between me and Lyrik though. "You guys just gonna act shy the whole night?" I asked looking at them through the mirror. It was dead silent. When I kept looking through the mirror, I saw them smiling and eye flirting a little bit.
We listened to the radio.
And I Know That He Love's Me
Cause I Give Him What The Street's Can't
So Whenever He Need's Me
I'll Show Him What His Ho's Can't"Ooh turn this up!" Alana yelled. "This is our song." Lyrik said turning up the volume. They sang along to Bonnie & Clyde by Tink.
I Love It, I Need It, Gotta Have It
I'm a Keep It, That Real Ass Nigga
Baby I Salute You, Can't Nobody Come Before You
I'll Be Your Bonnie, Bonnie & ClydeLyrik and Alana singing together was probably the greatest thing I've ever seen. Two friends having the best time being lost in music amused me a little.
We got off the highway and onto an exit. "We're going to Dave & Busters?" Alana asked. I saw Lyrik look back at Alana who seemed to be very excited.
After being in Dave & Busters for a while, I started to see Lyrik's competitive side. I liked it. She beat me at Just Dance, and Continuous Basketball. We played some other games that I won, but we had fun. We won so many tickets we had to carry this huge bucket. We had lost Alana and Carlos a while ago. Hope they're not having too much fun.
Lyrik's POV
I'm having a blast. I don't think I've had this much fun in years. I could tell Lana and Carlos were having fun because they ditched us a while back.
Jamal and I got a little tired, so we decided to grab a table and relax a minute. " Had enough yet?" Jamal asked. I started cheesing. " Boy please," I started, " that was just my warm up." He started chuckling.
"You want something to eat?" I shook my head. " You're not one of those are you?" I gave him a confused look to his question. " One of what?" " Ya know," he started, " one of those girls who feel they're too pretty to eat in front of a guy?" I laughed way too hard. " Nah, whenever I'm ready to eat, trust and believe that I will eat." I said, and it was the honest to God truth. "I don't care who is in front of me, I will eat." He put his hands up in a surrender. " Well, excuse me. " We both laughed. Talking with Lyrik is great. She was so easy going.
"Tell me something about you." He says. "What do you wanna know?" I asked in suspense. He sat there thinking for a second. "Tell me about your dad." I felt myself tense up a little bit. I hoped that he couldn't tell, but I was wrong.
"Hey, if you don't wanna talk about that--" " No it's okay." "I could feel you tensing up over here." He said with a slight smile. I took a deep breath and started talking. " My dad left me and my mom right after my first birthday." He grabbed my hand. "Growing up, I just wanted to know what he was like. It was like my mom telling me just wasn't enough." He shook his head. " One day my older sister got ahold of my mom and gave her my dad's number. I was so excited. We talked almost everyday for hours." I could feel myself getting angry. " My mom tells me that she planned a mother daughter trip for just the two of us. I was happy because I loved spending time with my mom. This meant my brother and Tink had to stay back while we just had our fun." I took another deep breath. " She surprised me with him being on the trip. I was so nervous, but excited at the same time..but he wasn't who I thought he would be. He was so different in person. I knew that if I wanted to make things work, that I had to give him a chance. Soon after the trip, the calls came less and less till less became a stop. He tried to pick me back up and drop me whenever he felt like it." I felt my eyes burning from tears. " I fell for it every time. When he didn't call, I waited...and waited...and I waited for him. Then reality hit me.I couldn't make him change if he didn't want it for himself. I gave up and won't give him the time of day now." I finished not letting one tear fall. It's pointless to cry over something that's out of your control. I felt Jamal's grip tighten.
"I know letting someone in is probably one of the hardest things to do. Especially when you've been hurt so many times." He said, but I couldn't fix my mouth to say anything. " I want you to let me in, but at your own pace. I'll do the same, but that's only if you want to." I looked into his eyes, seeing that he was 100%. I still couldn't say anything, so I just nodded my head in agreement.
We left Dave & Buster's around 9:30 ish. The seating arrangements stayed the same, but Alana and I fell asleep during the ride home.
"Wake up yall we here." I heard Jamal say. We got out of the car andheaded into Lana's house. Tonight was fun, and I don't think I've ever had this much fun.
We decided to watch movies all night. I'm glad that Alana's mom was gone for the weekend.
During the second movie, I turned to see Carlos and Lana full blown making out. It was kind of awkward. Jamal caught me eyeing them and grabbed my hand. "Come with me." I was a bit confused. He grabbed the blanket and took it outside.
He laid it down on the grass and sat down. Once he was down, he motioned me to sit right next to him. "Lie down with me." So I did. When I did so, he pointed upwards to the sky. I looked up and saw the most beautiful scenery. "It's beautiful." I said in awe. "This is the best part about summer. Being able to come outside and just look up. No matter the time of day." I looked towards him, but he was in a gaze. "My mom used to take me outside and tell me that if I just looked up, my world would be alright." He continued, " It's like now...when I look at you, my world is..it's like it's even better."
He turned his face towards mine. I could feel my heart starting to race, but I tried to play it off. His hand cupped the left side of my face. " I meant what I said about letting each other in." He said, and I nodded.
He got closer and leaned in. My breath started to wince. His lips met mine and my heart bout damn near exploded. We kissed passionately, and our tongues did an erotic dance. Truly the best night.
