CHAPTER SONG: READY, AIM, FIRE, IMAGINE DRAGONS

Edgar was the one to pull me back from the front lines, he passed me back to Tanya who took Yona as well. All the men stood up front, keeping the few women, myself included, from getting involved in the battle. It was deathly silent for a few moments, the only sounds was the creaking and groaning of the train compartment. I got a few glimpses of the guards, they had somehow procured a large fish and were dipping the blades of their axes in it, seasoning them with blood.

I struggled against Tanya's surprisingly strong grip, but it was useless. The men started to move forward and the battle had commenced. I had lost sight of Curtis somewhere in the middle of the fight, but as more and more men started to drop dead I saw his figure again. I almost sighed in relief, but it was ripped from my throat when I saw him drop to the ground.

"Curtis!" I screamed and wrenched out of Tanya's grasp. She yelled for me, but I ignored her. I whipped out my blade and ran through the throngs of men. I don't think any of them really noticed me, I didn't attack the masked guards. My only thought was on making sure Curtis was alive. I got close enough and saw that Edgar had slammed into a guard that was about ready to attack Curtis with an axe. Curtis quickly killed the same guard and moved on to another one. Edgar got up and stared after Curtis for a second.

"Edgar!" I called and caught up to him, stabbing a guard in the neck on my over.

"What the fuck are you doin'!?" He yelled, dodging another attack. I didn't answer him, I just continued on after Curtis. Edgar followed close behind and eventually all three of us were side by side killing guards. I saw Curtis look at me out of the corner of his eye, but he didn't say anything. A horn blaring suddenly stopped the guards from attacking us.

"Passing Yakaterina Bridge!" Officer Fuyu bellowed loudly into a speaker.

"Shit! We're at the bridge guys!" Edgar called back to all of our men. The guards started counting down from ten and when they reached zero they shouted "Happy New Year!" and waved their axes around like they were toys.

"I hate gettin' old man. I fuckin' hate it!" Edgar said to Curtis, who ran over to one of the windows and looked out. I followed in suit along with Edgar and we pressed ourselves up against the glass. A giant blockage of ice was on the tracks, and we were getting closer to it.

"Hang on!" Curtis yelled and brought me down to the floor to shield me with his body.

"Impact!" Fuyu yelled into the speaker, and we were all tossed violently to the floor as the train smashed through the ice. I looked around and saw that Nam was still standing up and had Yona on his back.

"Hey, Nam, what're you doing!?" I shouted at him, he didn't even look back to see who was calling his name.

"He's high as a fuckin' kite!" Edgar yelled. Nam went over to the window and was struggling to stay upright. We were all thrown again, this time to the other side of the car. I hit my head against the metal siding and blinked a few times to clear my blurry vision. But, I found myself face to face with one of the masked guards.

He smiled evilly at me and clasped a bloody hand over my mouth. I struggled to get free and tried to grab my knife, but it was thrown from my grasp when we hit the ice build up. I was knocked onto my back and the guard was using his weight to keep me there. I bit down hard on his hand and he roared in pain, he removed his hand from my mouth to cradle it in his other hand. I took a big breath and let out an ear splitting scream.

"Curtis!"

Not two seconds later the guard was ripped away from me and thrown onto his back. Curtis opted for his fists instead of a knife or axe. He pulverized the guard's masked face until there was no sign of life in him. Even then Curtis continued to bash his face in.
