Eric sat in the doorway of a cart on the train, myself in his lap. I wrapped my legs around his waist and tilted backwards until the air rushed around me, my clothes rippling in the wind.
I screamed in excitment as I hung out of the train, my world suddenly flipped upside down. Eric held onto me tightly, making sure that I didn't fall out. When it all became too much, I sat myself up right. My forehead pressed against his as I caught my breath, giggling.
"You're no Amity." He chuckled.
"Definitely not."
He reached a hand up and pushed a few stray hairs away from my face. His lips found mine easily, even in the dark. The train rushed over a bumpy track, causing Eric to dart a hand out to grab onto the safety handle for balance. I clutched to his body, afraid we might be tossed out. His free hand found it's way onto my back and he held me tightly against him.
"Done?" He asked.
"Yea, let's move so we don't fall out."
He instructed me to get up first and I did as I was told. I climbed off him and got to my feet, then moved furthur into the cart. He followed suit, hitting a button so that the door slid shut.
It's been a few weeks since he first kissed me. I've become addicted to his lips. He's all I think about, all I want. No one suspects the two of us. We make sure to keep our distance when ever we run into each other around the others and we only meet at night on the train.
Everyone got over the whole ordeal with Scotty, and I managed to forgive Ellie. My parents returned to normal, no longer judging me for running away that night. They tried to monitor me, warning me that if I ever snuck out to the train again that I would be grounded - whatever that meant. But after a week of finding that I had no intention of leaving, they gave up. I made them believe that I would never ride the metal carts again, but each night after they went to bed, I snuck out to meet Eric.
"How was your day?" I asked as he backed me slowly into the nearest wall.
I hissed at the contact of cold glass on my skin. He had cornered me up against one of the windows, then used the ledge of it to support his weight as he leaned into me.
He shrugged. "Fine."
"Yeah? Did you get into any fights?"
"Is that what you think I spend most of my time doing?" A smirk played on his lips.
My hands ran over his knuckles. The scabs on them seemed fresh. "How else would you get these?"
"Punching bags."
"Does it hurt?"
"Not at all. Feels pretty good, actually."
I grimaced. "You like the feeling of pain, don't you."
"Certain kinds of pain." He clarified. "Keeps my mind off things."
"What kind of things?"
"Acting pretty nosy tonight, aren't we. Didn't peg you as an Erudite."
I ran my hands up his sculpted chest and winded my arms around his neck. "I'm just curious. You don't tell me much."
"It's better that way."
"Better for you, maybe." I sighed in annoyance. "C'mon. Just tell me something, like, what your tattoo's stand for."
He lifted a hand off the window ledge and pointed to his neck. "Leadership." His pointed finger moved to his arms. "Dauntless seal on the right, Erudite seal on the left."
