Chapter 9

Ruby Point of View

I managed to get to endless parties as I am the school's queen bee. And every party I've been to, there's only one thought that I repeatedly wish that would happen.

Otis in a party. Though I know that it would be impossible, but still the thought just never fades on me. Until one day, the impossible happened. A party, hosted by the one and only, Otis Milburn.

During the party, I managed to project myself as if I am not interested at all, but the party was lit. At first, it was like a normal party of a teenager in a weekday. Then things just escalated to the maximum. Otis had this moment where he managed to offend his unrequited love and ex girlfriend.

It was a thumbs down moment for him and I can clearly see that he was making himself overly drunk by what had happened. I wanted to comfort him. Tell him that everything's gonna be okay. Well, being drunk also myself at the time would be the most imperfect equation to the problem present at hand.

The night's been hazy for me. And all I can only remember is Otis, dancing very awkwardly with me in the dance floor.

It was an early morning, but I managed to get up and find my clothes on the floor. Otis quietly snores on the bed, butt-naked like a newborn baby.

After I dressed, Otis wakes up but hardly sees me beside him. He carefully observed his surroundings as if he was just realizing what happened last night. He turned to my side and wears this blank expression of him. Before he can say anything, I immediately greeted him "Good Morning".

There was a shock in his eyes. As if he can't really comprehend what had just happened.

Otis: Ahh!

He was so shocked that he was able to get up.

Otis: Why are you in my bed?

Ruby: If you tell anyone about this, I'll destroy your life.

Otis: Did we have sex?

Ruby: Of course we had sex, Otis. I'm not here because I enjoy your company. But I can't find the condom.

Otis: We had sex without a condom?

Ruby: No, I'm pretty sure we used one.

Otis: Well where is it?

Ruby: I don't know, it's vanished.

He awkwardly inspected his groin to inspect whether it was really vanished or not. Then, for a second he had this expression that suggests that he had this bright idea moment.

Otis: You don't think your vagina swallowed it, do you? I heard about the girl —-

I just can't believe that he was saying that. It's just ridiculous.

Ruby: I can't believe I had sex with you.

Otis: Okay, Ruby. We definitely used a condom, right?

Ruby: Yes, I'm like 99 percent certain.

Then I heard his Mom, Dr. Jean Milburn, calling Otis to go downstairs.

I was on the stairs when Dr. Milburn carefully examines all the rubbish that were lying around her house. I wanted to secretly vanished at the exact moment when she turned my way.

Dr. Milburn: Hello.

Ruby: I'm Ruby.

Dr. Milburn: Hello Ruby.

Ruby: I covet your pant suits.

Dr. Milburn: Oh. Thank you. This one's-

Ruby: I was just being polite. I've gotta get to school.

After that awkward encounter, I managed to get out as fast as I can, ignoring every bit of conversation Otis and his mother is currently having. As I was about to get into my car, I am recalling the events that took place last night.

It was alright, except for the one thing that really bothers me most. I dismissed the thought and begun driving my way back home. As I said earlier, I've really gotta get to school. But the thought still bothers me. Hopefully I can find a way to resolve it. With Otis, maybe. But later.
