Melany was pacing between her closet and her suitcase, grabbing clothes and shoving them in.
The team and Melany talked in the conference room about everything involving HYDRA. Sharon was there too, to help explain that she was still technically working with HYDRA since she found they had information on Melany. The team collectively agreed it would be better if Bucky and Melany left the compound together in a secluded area.
Clint offered to relocate his wife and kids until the whole thing blew over, but Tony quickly rushed in, saying he had a place in Georgia. A cottage in the Blue Ridge Mountains. Two bedrooms, two bathrooms, a nice kitchen, dining area and living space. Nat and Steve would be there with Melany and Bucky for more security and to help keep HYDRA off Melany and Bucky's trail.
Melany rushed into her bathroom, grabbing her necessities - toothbrush, hairbrush, makeup if she needed it, and other things she would obviously need. She couldn't help but think about Bucky as she packed. She sighed, biting the inside of her cheek as she shoved things into her suitcase. She grabbed her phone charger and put that in the case as well.
She needed to talk to Bucky before they left.
She sighed, zipping up her suitcase and walking out her door. She knocked on his, shoving her hands into her pockets. The door swung open.
Bucky stood there, a little confused. They were supposed to be packing, but he didn't know she'd already finished with how skittish she was. "What's wrong, doll?"
"Can we talk?" Melany looked down, pushing herself into his room.
"Of course." He grabbed her wrist to face him. "What is it?"
Melany took a deep breath, trying to avoid his gaze. She was nervous. His touch on her didn't help. She glanced up at him, eyes wide. Bucky titled his head, letting go of her wrist. "What did you mean when you said you were supposed to just leave this morning?"
Bucky furrowed his brow, and licked his bottom lip. "What do you mean?"
"You said this morning that you were supposed to just leave and get HYDRA off my trail." Melany took a deep breath. "Did you actually want to leave?" She looked into his eyes, tears starting to prick in hers.
"Mel..." Bucky sighed, looking down. "I thought I should've left. If I hadn't crashed because I was so exhausted, I wouldn't have called either." He walked back over to his own closet, pulling out some shirts and pulling them off the hangers.
"You wouldn't have called?" She turned around to face him, arms crossed against her chest.
Bucky looked at her as he continued pulling clothes from his closet. "Stop, Mel." He was growing frustrated. Three hours ago all that was important was that they were both safe.
"No." She walked closer to him, ripping the clothes he had in his hand and throwing them on the bed. "Did you even mean it?"
"What?" Bucky clenched his jaw, staring harshly down at her.
"When you said you love me too." Melany blinked away the tears that were threatening to fall.
Bucky's jaw ticked, and he tilted his head down at her, growing even more irritated. "Why wouldn't I have meant it?"
"I don't know!" She yelled, huffing out a breath. "Because you said you would've left if you hadn't crashed."
"And I would have, for you!" Bucky yelled back, taking a step closer to her. "For your safety."
"What about your safety, huh?" Melany replied behind gritted teeth.
Bucky rolled his eyes. He didn't respond and went back to packing his things. After a minute of her just standing there, watching him. He stopped, looking over at her. "Why did you just run into the bar?"
