She felt strangely safe the next morning. She was laying on Bucky's chest, her hand on his stomach as she stirred awake. His metal arm was draped around her, holding her waist. She had almost forgotten about Steve until she checked her phone when she swiveled away from Bucky. She folded up his hoodie and put it on the edge of his bed, before leaving the room.
She went back to her room, stripping out of her clothes and stepping into the shower. She let the hot water run over her skin, washing Bucky away as she lathered her body with soap. She sighed as the water ran through her hair and closed her eyes, focusing on the water, and not on Bucky.
Once done with her shower, the nerves of being around Bucky creeped up. She recalled when she woke up, and how peaceful he looked. His pink lips parted slightly, brows relaxed and his chest rising and falling slowly. She remembered his warm skin against hers and the cold she felt when she pulled away.
She got dressed, slipping on a pair of spandex shorts and a graphic t-shirt. She walked out of the room and stopped in the hallway to listen. She heard rustling through the door and figured Bucky was awake. The nerves in her stomach grew as she heard him walking around the room. She sped down the staircase and into the training area.
She started on the treadmill, starting at a walk. She put her earbuds in, putting her phone on the main panel. She picked a playlist and focused on the music. By the time she got into a jog-pace, a metal hand reached out and lowered her pace. She took out an earbud and looked over to find Bucky looking at her.
"Morning." He said once she took out the earbud. "Why didn't you wake me?" He asked.
"You said you hadn't been sleeping well, so I thought I'd just let you sleep." She replied, lowering the speed and getting off the treadmill.
Bucky couldn't help but smile, "Thank you."
"Yeah." She said, leaning over to grab her water bottle and take a sip.
"Are you hungry?" Bucky asked, turning to the doors to the training room.
"A little." She said, she heard her stomach growl at the mention of food.
"A little?" Bucky asked, hearing her stomach.
She rolled her eyes, following him out the training room and into the kitchen across the lobby of the compound.

Melany and Bucky talked over a cup of coffee. "Are you excited for Steve to get back?" Bucky asked her.
Melany smiled. "Yes. I miss him." She looked down at her hands around the mug.
"I like seeing you happy." He grinned at her.
"Yeah, me too." She replied, taking a sip from her mug.
Bucky cleared his throat, setting his mug down and leaning back against the counter. He looked over at Melany. "Can I ask you something?" He crossed his arms over his chest.
"Sure." She replied, looking over at him from the island where she sat.
"Are you still..." He paused, trying to think of the right words. "Afraid of me?" He looked away from her. She wanted to lie and tell him the truth, but she knew in her heart she still needed to know he wasn't going to turn on her after saying the words.
"A little." She admitted, looking down at her mug.
"Say the words." Bucky pushed off the counter, walking around the island to stand next to her. He was rather close, his chest in her face.
"What?" she looked up at him, confused.
"Say the words. I know you've memorized them." He paused. "If that's what it takes for you to trust me; to not be afraid of me. I will go into a cell right now." He licked his lips. "You can say the words. I'm telling you now, nothing is going to happen, Melany."
