Alexis POV
"I swear your ass is always disappearing on me, without a trace or call! One day I'm calling the police and they're gonna have the FBI looking for you." Christine snapped at me with a cold glare. I rolled my eyes at her motherly tone while walking into my room. She followed behind me still yelling at me as if I was a child.
After Durk dropped me back at my apartment I was anxious to see Christine, seeing that I haven't seen her since last night had me worried. But judging by the way she was yelling at me I knew that she was everything but in any form of danger.
Stopping I turned to her and gave her a flat look, "Christine your over reacting." She gave me a hard look before it soften, "Lexi, you may think I'm over reacting but I really was worried." I let my features soften and gave her a small smile.
"Well next time I make sure I'll try to call you." I said reassuringly which she responded with a grin.
"So, what the hell happened you last night? After the shooting I couldn't find you anywhere." She asked curiously taking a seat on my bed, while I stood in the middle of my room staring at her.
"Well, I was attacked-"
"What do you mean you were attacked, by who?" She nearly screamed cutting me off.
"I don't know," I mumbled.
"You didn't see what the guy look like?" Thinking back to earlier about how Durk and his brother told me to keep the identity of the guy to myself. I debated with myself whether to tell her. Sighing, I shook my head no.
Christine looked at me suspiciously showing me that she didn't believe me, "You know I always know when you're lying?" I rolled my eyes hating how easily she could read me.
"Yes I saw the guy but-"
"We need to go to the police then!" I gave her glare for cutting me off again. At her reference to going to the police I shook my hastily, "No, we're not going to the police."
"Let me ask you something," She stood up from my bed and watched me intently with her brown eyes, "Did the guy that attack you, was he involved in that shooting at the club?" I bit down on my tongue and diverted my gaze else where. Even though Christine was my best friend I couldn't tell her due to my promise to my Durk. But who was Durk to me? He was a guy, yes that I like, that is stranger. However I couldn't shake this feeling if I did break my promise there would be consequences.
"Oh my gosh! He did, didn't he? Lexi we gotta go to the police." Was she kidding me? The police. If I go to the police and told what I saw I would be label as a snitch. There is nothing worse than becoming a snitch, your basically signing your own death wish. Even if you snitched on one person, that one person isn't coming after you, but their whole gang is.
"Are you crazy? You know if I go to the police with this bullshit I'm going to be labeled a snitch! And you know what happens to snitches in Chicago." Her face instantly dropped as she processed what I said, "Shit, sorry Lexi. Its just this murder is making headlines on the news, and the family of the victim are trying to look for any leads. And you know I have a big heart so I wanna help." She explained with a sigh.
I nodded in understanding, "You can't let what I know out to no one, because it's just gonna fall back on me."
"Of course, I would never do you dirty like that." I gave her smile before flopping on my bed. Christine mirrored my action. She look at me before furrowing her eyebrows in confusion, "Where did you go last night?"
"Um, I was at D-d-urk's." I answered stumbling over my words. Her eyes almost popped out her head, "I peeped you guys dry humping at the club but I didn't know he was gonna take you to his place especially after the shooting. Wait this isn't adding up, weren't you attack?"
