Alexis POV
I pushed the door to my apartment open and stepped inside to be greeted with my roommate, also best friend, Christine glaring at me with cross arms. I gave her a questionably look as I shut the door behind me.
"What?" I asked eerily.
"Alexis Lynn Wright, don't fucking what me! Where the hell have you been? I've been calling and texting you nonstop! I haven't seen or heard from you in two days!" I winced at her yelling tone before rolling my eyes. Christine and I have been close for nearly 7 years that I looked at her as if she was my sister. Being an only child, Christine was the sister that I always wanted growing up. She was always protective of me wanting to know where was, and who I was with. Though I do appreciate her always looking out for me sometimes it could get annoying.
"I'm sorry mom," I said sarcastically. Her glare harden as she open her mouth again, "I'm dead serious I was worry. I was bout to call the police and file a missing person report. How come you didn't answer your damn phone?" At the mention of my phone my hands flew to my pockets as I searched frantically.
"Shit!" I murmured when I realize it wasn't there.
"'Shit' what?" Christine asked confusedly.
"I lost my phone." I groaned throwing my hands up.
"Where?" Thinking back to last night and this morning I couldn't exactly pin point where it possibly be, it could be anywhere.
"I don't even know." I replied.
"What you mean you don't know, where were you for two days?" She asked appallingly.
"Um it was one night, and a morning," I corrected, "And its a long story." I mumbled flopping on the nearby couch with a sigh.
"Well I have all the time in the world." She came and took the seat by me and gave me an 'I'm waiting' look. I took a deep breath before I spoke. I begin telling her about the incident at the parlor last night before going into depth about what happen this morning. When I was finished she gave a steady look before bursting into laughter. I knitted my brows together in confusion as I watched her.
"Wait, wait, wait, your telling me Durk Banks, Durk fucking Banks save your life? Then took you back to his house so you'll have a safe place to sleep then in the morning drove you here, like some type of Prince knight?" She continued to laugh showing me she found what I was saying was untrue.
I gave her flat look and waited for her to stop. When she did she stared at me with a goofy grin.
"I'm serious."
"Girl, I'm sorry but I find that unbelievable. No offense, but why would he risk his life to save you? Cmon he's Durk Banks." She said still grinning.
"Um none taking, but I don't know. And why do keep saying his name like that?" I frowned.
"Like what?"
"Like he's the president of the United States." I answered dryly.
"C'mon Lexi, he's Durk Banks. He's basically the king of Chicago! Every nigga wants to be him and every girl wants him. He's royalty." She exaggerated.
I snorted at her reference to him as royalty. Yes, he's very known in city, popular if you want to say, but a king was a bit farfetched. To everybody else he may seem like that but to me his another human being, a equal.
"A king my ass, he's just uh, a wanna be gang banger."
"A wanna be gang banger pfft, he's the gang banger." She praised.
