KATE'S POV

I had practically made a run for it after leaving Xavious an hour ago. The hybrids followed behind me but I could not see them; I was grateful for them giving me some privacy.

I enter the house first, from the lounge area only to stop in my tracks when I hear someone snap their fingers.

Instantly my body froze, my limbs refused to move and then slowly I was made to turn facing a warlock.

His hood covered half his face as he sat upon the leather armchair across from where I stood, still frozen in place.

"Don't take this personally Luna but I guess I've always hated the Leodavin's hence why I need you to... how should I say this nicely... not exist."

"Do I know you?" My voice comes out slow and hoarse and even as I try moving my whole body feels as if it's on fire!

"I need to sacrifice one of Alpha blood; yours specifically. The abominations have taken a liking to you, by a means of a counter-spell their obedience will be to me and only me... and from there I guess you know what will happen to your mate soon enough!" His dark chuckle leaves the house dead silent for a moment as I carry on resisting his hold on me.

"Anyways, say 'hi' to your parents for me Luna... although I would've preferred burning this house down as well I will just make it a quick one for I am running out of time."

"Last words?"

"Burn in hell, Warlock!" My wolf begins to surface and I could feel my wolf' eyes taking in the surrounding as it gives a howl. Just then the eldest of the hybrids leaps up into the air straight for the warlock but he just flings him to the corner smashing through the glass pane. Two more attack and while he starts to fight the two, the rest end up biting chunks off of him and even then he began to heal; fuckin' warlocks and their healing potions!

"Boys, out! Now!" I yell as my wolf tears through, my bones crack into my wolf's form as we all head into the thick forest. It was nightfall and fog had covered the forest floor and layered upon the tall trees while my paws begin to hit the ground faster and faster.

I slow down to see if everyone followed once we stop halfway in the middle of the forest. I counted 7 of them.

My wolf howls into the night and just then in the distance ahead, a blinding blue light appeared in a straight line. It looked as if it was a tear in the barrier.

And then we all saw it, the tear began to widen itself slowly and if we could reach there in time we could all make it out!

My wolf gestures for them to head towards the opening of the barrier and as the six of them leave, the 7th one warns me to leave and heads back to get the last one.

Having faith in them I follow the hybrids to the end of the cliff where they took me the very first time. The first three which I noticed always stuck to each other, with the speed of lightning performed mighty leaps off the cliff reaching the other side safely.

My heart pounded against my chest as the next three nodded their heads and did the same, crossing the dangerous river down below and landing safely on the other side.

I look back and wait a little longer for the other two but then a striking red light flashes and my head snaps to the rip in the barrier and it looked as if it was getting smaller.

'Oh no, it's closing!' Ava yells making me double-minded. Should I stay or should I go...

I take a good few paces back and just then I notice the hybrid's return urging me to take the jump. I nod towards him and he obliges to go first. As my paws hit the mossy ground with large strides I sense the other hybrid behind me.

Feeling my hopes rise, I leap off the cliff only to realise I had underestimated the distance between the two cliff edges... my wolf was a little smaller compared to the eight hybrids.

I wasn't going to make it but at least the eight hybrids had finally made it out. They paid the price of an eternity in that loophole of a barrier and so I wish the very best for them... oh Moon Goddess... how could you have chosen a worthless wolf such as myself to become the Luna of all Lunas?

XAVIOUS' POV

The elders and my warriors including my betas accompanied me on this journey; journey to the dark forest.

It was not long until we reached the side of the barrier where the Elder named Josephine had decided she will be opening it from. The light itself would shine bright enough for them to see and escape but I'm not sure if all of them will make it out alive. The barrier can only be opened for a while long.

One thing I am worried about is the 5th elder who according to the others is also a warlock. Which is how he was able to come back and forth through the barrier as he pleased. The other Elders mentioned his allegiance to my father and his loyalty, followed by that he kept the hybrids contained. Josephine had only placed the barrier to keep the other werewolves safe but he placed the spell upon them, a curse of remaining in their hybrid forms forever.

Had I known of the existence of these hybrids I would've freed them long before, I thought I was the only one of my kind apart from father.

Josephine began her incantations as she slices her left palm with a knife letting it drip into the river down below. Leaving her to do the magic I sense another pack and my wolf becomes alert.

"Alpha Kane."

"Alpha. I've brought Natalie to help open the barrier. She's the most powerful of her kind." Kane speaks formally as he nudges the small woman in front.

"Help Josephine. The others be prepared if any of the hybrids are going to attack but do not initiate to harm them first only in defense can you protect yourselves, understood?" My loud voice echoes through the forest as a chorus of 'Yes, Alpha' is heard.

Turning back around, three hybrids make it to this side and annoyance begins to stir in me once two more make it and it's not Kate.

Another one follows and the anticipation was eating me alive!

With another powerful 'whoosh' the 7th hybrid leaps and lands gracefully standing in line with the other hybrids facing the barrier just like the rest of us...awaiting for the 8th hybrid and my Luna, our Luna.
