In July, Y/n was ordered by Mikey to stay away from Toman. She couldn't be seen in public with any of its members, but he was a phone call away if she ran into any trouble. One of Pah's men had been attacked by a gang called Moebius. The member's girlfriend was also beaten and raped, so Mikey came to the conclusion that any girls with connections to Toman weren't safe. Y/n was recognizable to most of the members of Toman. She had been around to watch it grow, and often spent time with the first division captain. Baji had argued that Y/n would be safer constantly being around them but Mikey wanted to avoid any other gangs realizing her importance to the founding members. The men responsible for that beating and rape confronted a portion of Toman in an abandoned warehouse. A fight ended up breaking out. The night after Pah was arrested for stabbing one of those members, Mikey went for a long ride and then picked Y/n up on his bike. He told her what had happened, explaining that he and Draken were at a disagreement, but he didn't want to talk through the problem. He just wanted to talk to his bike. Small puddles formed on his shoulder as Y/n cried, holding on tight as he sped through Tokyo. Another one of her closest friends was incarcerated.

It wasn't that long after, on August 3rd, that the Tokyo Manji Gang brawled with Moebius again. The acting commander left them with the ominous message that a new gang, Valhalla, had formed to crush Toman. Draken was left brutally stabbed and rushed to the hospital. Mikey's younger sister Emma had called Y/n crying as she made her way to the ER. Draken survived but had to spend some time in a hospital bed healing. Y/n visited him briefly to drop off an intricate 'get well' card she had drawn him. She was happy to see him smiling. He was always humble and mature, and being around him reminded Y/n of her grandfather. They'd get along great.  After leaving she met up with Emma to go get ice cream. Emma had been concerned and stressed about her crush being injured and desperately needed some girl time.

The months carried on and Y/n filled her time the way she always had. Night rides with Mikey. Babysitting Mitsuya's little sisters so he could have fun with the guys. Long phone calls with Emma. Then meeting Emma's new friend Hina. Bookstore trips with Chifuyu because Baji refused to be seen looking at romance manga. Homework. Movie nights with mom on her days off. She just carried on with living her life, and didn't even notice she was being watched. Every morning she would leave for school and Kazutora would watch from the rooftop. He had no desire to make his presence known to her. She's grown up. Memory didn't serve me well because shit she's beautiful. Once I take care of Toman, then I can have her back.

After Baji officially quit Toman he met up with Kazutora in a dark alley. He had been in contact with Tora through letters while his friend was in juvie, and then through phone calls and texts when Kazutora was released. He shouldn't have been so surprised but Keisuke was taken aback when Kazutora brought up Y/n. "Yeah she's doing good. She stayed close with everyone after you left, so she's been safe." Kazutora's eyes narrowed but he quickly regained composure, "So that includes Mikey?" Baji almost stammered on his words, realizing right away that he had fucked up. He had no choice but to be honest with Tora. "Yeah it does."

When the two parted ways, Keisuke pretended to head home. Instead, he made his way back towards the apartment complex Kazutora and Y/n lived in. It was late but since they had all gotten older Y/n's mother had started taking night shifts at the hospital, knowing her daughter was capable of taking care of herself. As he knocked on the door he hoped Y/n would wake up and answer the door. The situation was urgent and couldn't wait. When the front door finally opened, Y/n was in her pajamas, yawning and rubbing her eyes. "Ba-"
"Shhhhhh." Keisuke hissed through his teeth. "Listen to me." he whispered low, "Kazutora is back and Y/n, I'm serious you need to stay away from him and Toman." A feeling of surreal, lightheaded confusion washed over Y/n. She was fully awake now and able to get a good look at her friend. Baji was frantic and nervous, he looked like he could crawl out of his own skin, which was so unlike him. Y/n violently shot out both fists, clutching onto Baji's jacket and pulled him into the apartment. Being overcautious can have its downfalls and Baji had had tunnel vision on his way to Y/n. He didn't see that Kazutora had been on the roof when he arrived at  the apartment complex. Wondering why his closest friend was back after they had already caught up, Tora descended the stairs. When he reached Y/n's floor he looked down the hall to see Baji getting pulled into her apartment roughly. Looks like Mikey isn't the only one she's close with. He continued down the stairs to go back home.

"Baji, tell me what the fuck is going on. This isn't like you." She shook him slightly before letting go of him. He ran his hands through his hair, "Y/n. Kazutora has been locked up for a while now. The time he spent inside didn't do him any good. I never told you this but he snapped after what happened." Baji's eyes went sharp as they shared eye contact, "He wants to kill Mikey." Chills ran up Y/n's spine at his words. "He's got a serious grudge against Toman. But listen, I'm staying by his side. You don't have anything to worry about, alright? Just stay away. From all of us. Just be safe, alright?" he nervously looked over his shoulder, feeling as if he had already said too much and been there too long, "I gotta go." With that Baji left Y/n's apartment. She collapsed onto her mother's bed in the living room, placing her elbows on her knees and both hands cradling her head. Rubbing her temples in quick circles. She felt like she was going to be sick, nausea made its way up her throat but she swallowed hard suppressing the feeling. He's back? He wants to kill Mikey? No, that can't be right. Shinchiro's death was an accident. He's had two years to work through what happened. He can't really be capable of killing someone on purpose. Especially Mikey.

She spent the entire night trying to make sense of it all. The next morning, she woke up early, got ready for school, and made her way up to the roof. She almost didn't recognize the tall boy standing on the building's edge. His dark hair had been painted with chunky highlights, and as the wind blew through it the tiny ring of a bell earring carried its way through the air. That's Junpeke's earring. The sound of the heavy door slamming shut behind her didn't cause him to turn around, but she knew it was Tora. He was taller, broader, almost full grown and it made her hesitate calling out to him. It's been so long but he was still so handsome. He's still Tora. Tora, who hasn't written and didn't even bother to see me when he got home. I'll get to the bottom of this mess.  The nervousness passed as irritation took its place. "You're back?! You're back and you didn't even tell me?" He finally turned to face her, his mature face would've taken her breath away if he didn't look so dead. His expression was lifeless, eyes holding no sparkle. A shell of her first boyfriend stood before Y/n. He stepped off from the ledge and slowly sauntered towards her. "Has Baji been keeping you company in the meantime?"

The way he asked was condescending and rude. Then he added a layer of venom, "Then again I heard you're real close to Mikey now a days." He was still slow in his pace, looking more like the tiger on his neck stalking prey. Y/n wasn't ready to back down, she had been picked on by Tora for years she could handle him now. I'm not ten anymore. "Heard you're trying to kill Mikey, what's that about?" she spat back to him. She could've sworn his pupils dilated, even more focused on her every move. It made him even more predatory. "Hm, I bet you'd hate that. Wouldn't you?" Y/n had had enough of this unnecessary attitude Tora was giving her. Their first time seeing each other in what had felt like forever and this was how it was unfolded. Her demeanor became defeated, her shoulders sank. "Yeah, Tora, actually I would."

That's when he pounced. Kazutora stomped over to Y/n and she stepped backwards to match his movements. Only to have her back meet the roof's door. He left no space between them as he loomed over her. His fists were clenched and shaking; his face held nothing but bitterness and disgust. "I'm not the same guy I was two years ago. If you don't get the fuck away from me," his fist met the metal door, denting it with the force of his hit, the shake and sound of the impact made her knees shake.
"I'll kill you."

Tears and fear welled up inside of Y/n. She pushed Kazutora away from her, hurt and uncomfortable. Fight or flight kicking in, and being up on top of the roof all she could think about was running. He took three steps back away from her, and she opened the door to escape. She was in the doorway breathing hard and collecting herself. "Wow." Her voice trembling. She turned her face towards this unrecognizable boy. He looked amused that she had something else to add. That jester grin he was sporting quickly fell at her parting words,
"Just now. You looked exactly like your dad."
