Story #12: Meeting

Typically, Kayama didn't go to any of Togami's business meetings. Usually, they were short; so she stayed at home, tidying up, or going on one of her weekly meetings with Asahina.

But, on one occasion, everyone attending the meeting had to bring a plus one. Friend, family member, whatever they were; they had to go. Of course, Togami begged Kayama to go, and because she enjoys going out with him; even if it's to some stupid meeting, she said yes.

The day of the meeting approaches, and Kayama was anticipating it; meeting Togami's colleges, or whatever they were. Getting to go in a fancy office building, she was pretty excited.

Togami: Are you ready for this? There's gonna be a bunch of people there besides you and I.
Kayama: Yup! Been preparing for this for a week.

Kayama had picked out a more formal outfit; a black dress, brown trench coat, and a couple necklaces and rings, adding onto her wedding ring. Togami had on a regular business suit.

Not too long later, Togami and Kayama pulled up to a huge office building, like the ones Kayama would see when she was younger going on far away trips.

Kayama: I've never been in one of these before.
Togami: Eh, to me they're nothing but another office building.

Togami pulled a keycard out of his pocket and unlocked the building; Kayama looked like her had just seen a ghost. Togami showed his keycard to the front desk lady as she waved at Kayama, who then reciprocated the action.

Kayama walked down halls, went up elevators and finally got to a meeting room with Togami; they were the second pair there.

In two chairs sat a short, black haired woman and what looked to be her brother, or husband. The woman also waved at Kayama. Her and Togami sat down in two chairs across the huge glass table.

Kayama: [whispering] I didn't know that major women came to these meetings.
Togami: Yeah, that's Liena Atu. She's on the board.
Kayama: Aren't you all?
Togami: Only me, Atu, and two other guys who I barely know. The rest are a level lower, I forgot what that position was.
Kayama: Hm. Interesting. Isn't everyone here a big-shot business owner?
Togami: Yeah. Mostly.

Togami was at the top of the business pyramid; a wealthy, famous family. The heir has always been at the top.

People started piling in, pair by pair. There were a couple of big-shot women, which made Kayama smile, knowing there were women who were important. The last people to come in were a mean looking guy and what was probably his wife. The only two seats open were right next to Kayama; so, the last woman sat right next to her.

Kayama took out a piece of paper from her notepad and wrote to Togami.

"That woman's perfume is strong. It smells terrible."

"I can smell it from here. And I'm further away from her."

"Geez, someone needs to tell her to turn down her perfume."

Kayama snickered to Togami. The perfume lady beside her shushed her.

Kayama: That meeting was boring. All you did was talk about economics and introduce your plus one yourself.
Togami: They are boring, but I'll get kicked off the board if I miss one.
Kayama: Wow, harsh rules.
Togami: I know.
Kayama: Still, I would've liked to introduce myself. I bet everyone was surprised to find out I was your wife.
Togami: They probably thought you were my younger sister or something. Y'know, because you're a foot shorter than me.
Kayama: If I was a foot shorter than you, I'd be 5'1; I'm 5'4.
Togami: Same thing. Still I don't think they'd believe me if they didn't see at least one of our rings.
Kayama: [snickering] Probably not.

oh and i also have to pick up maybe again, that'll be hard; the same leah is in there except i started that when i was obsessed with light yagami so it's gonna be hard to write about leah in love with light 🥲💪
