Ch.13

We finally reach the airport the next day, and I was saying my goodbye. I hugged Haley and she gave me a cute little panda keychain. I ran over to David and the guys and gave them a big hug. “We couldn’t find any pandas for you unfortunately,” David said, handing me a giant pink cupcake shaped pillow. “But we wanted to spoil you one last time before we go.”

“You’ll never learn,” I giggled.

I hugged them one last time and waved them goodbye. I cuddled with Phoenix for a while, before putting her back in her cage. Patrick and I took her to the vet to get her vaccine shot before she came on the trip. “I love you, Phoenix. I’ll be with you again soon. I promise,” I said, kissing her nose. I put her in her cage and they took him away. Patrick smiled and took my hand and led me to our plane. Which was first class, by the way. We went through the usual security jazz, passports, so on and so forth. Finally, we got on the plane and got ready to take off. Patrick must have remembered what happened the first time we rode on a plane, so he sat next to the window. I smiled thankfully at him and sat down. I wiped off some sweat off my face and leaned back. I rested my head on my new pillow and cuddled with Bamboo.

“Tricky, wake me up when we land, please?” I asked.

He smiled and kissed my forehead. “Of course, baby girl. Get some sleep,” he said. I smiled weakly and closed my eyes. Patrick took out my blanket from my suitcase and draped it over me. I smiled at his sweet gesture and closed my eyes. My stomach was twisting and turning, and my throat was as hot as Death Valley (I really need to stop making Fall Out Boy references. Sorry, not sorry). I sighed and closed my eyes, trying to catch some shuteye. I did eventually, but I ended up having a nightmare.

I was running. Running fast. I looked behind me, all I saw was darkness. What was I running from exactly? And where was everyone else? I suddenly tripped and cried, pain surging from my knee. I looked up to see a silhouetted figure standing in front of Patrick. Patrick was practically shaking, tears soaking his face. In front of him was my father, pointing a gun at him.

“Say goodnight,” my dad growled.

I got up, ignoring the pain and ran towards them. “NOOOOO!!!!!!” I screamed.

Then a shot broke out.

I sat up and panted heavily, drenched in sweat. I threw the blanket off me and ran into the bathroom. I crouched over and threw up, coughing a bit. When I was done, I washed my face and flushed the toilet. I walked out and sat back down, readjusting myself in my seat and put back on the blanket, snuggling with Bamboo. I took off my fedora and brushed my hair and put it back on.

“You okay?”

I turned and saw Patrick away. I smiled and nodded. “Nightmare,” I said simply. Patrick nodded and pulled me in for a hug. “You want to talk about it, baby girl?” he asked. I shook my head and nuzzled into his neck. “I’m not really in the mood,” I mumbled. Patrick nodded and held on to me. “Get some sleep, baby girl,” he said. I nodded and closed my eyes. I woke up again just as we landed and we walked in. I walked behind them slowly, dragging my suitcase. Andy volunteered to go get Phoenix, and we put up our hoods and glasses. I felt nauseated, and wiped the constant recurring sweat off my forehead.

“Are you alright, baby girl?” I heard Patrick say, worried.

I shook my head and held my head. I felt as if my body was on fire, and everything was spinning around me. “Daddy, I-I don’t feel good,” I moaned. My legs gave away and my surroundings went black.

“Sam!” I heard Patrick say. It was the last thing I heard.
