Patrick's p.o.v
I was driving to Starbucks the next day, anxiousness surging through me. I was about to meet Samantha's birth father for the first time. Being nervous would be an understatement. I was freaking out to be honest. Would this Tony guy be a thug? Would he be one of those guys who smokes crack and sins about you-know-what? I honestly don't know what to expect from this meeting, but I hope it's not something I regret. I parked in the parking lot and walked in. I was never the one to go to Starbucks. That was more of a Pete Wentz thing. Nonetheless, I walked over to the counter.
"Hi. What can I get you?" the cashier asked.
"Just a black coffee, please," I said. "Under Patrick."
"Okay, should be ready in a few minutes," the cashier said.
I paid and sat down at a vacant table. I took out my phone and decided to surf through the internet for a while. I wasn't really paying attention and I felt someone tap on my shoulder. I looked up from my phone and saw a tall hispanic man with short brown hair, and a arms filled with tattoos. Judging from the poster in Sam's room, this must be her birth father, Tony Perry.
"Patrick Stump" he asked.
"Yes. You must be Tony Perry, correct?" I said.
"Yes, I am," He said. I held out my hand and he shook it, Up close, he didn't look like the menacing type. He looked quite gentle. But He could be a killer for all I know. "Please, sit down."
He sat down in the seat across from me and fiddled around with his thumb. "So... my daughter, Samantha... how is she?" Tony asked.
"She's fine. She's just trying to take in the fact that her father is the guitarist of one of her favorite bands," I replied.
Tony nodded and drank his coffee. "I feel like a terrible father. I wanted to meet you and ask if I may have permission to see her. I wanted to clear up some things," Tony said.
"Well, like I said, Mr. Perry-"
"Tony," he interrupted. "Call me Tony."
"Like I said, Tony, it's Sam's decision. I don't have anything against you reuniting with your long lost daughter, but I want to make sure it's alright with her."
Tony nodded and bit his lip. "Patrick Stump," the cashier said. I nodded and smiled at Tony. "Um, excuse me for a minute," I said. Tony nodded and I walked over to the counter. The cashier handed me my coffee and receipt and I walked back to Tony.
"So, forgive me for asking- and you don't have to answer- but why did you leave Sam after all these years?" I asked.
"I didn't leave her," Tony said. "I dated her mother in high school. Well, we ended up... expressing your love for each other to the extent, and Isabella got pregnant. I knew about the baby, and I told her i wanted to be a part of the baby's life. So Isabella agreed and kept the baby. When we found out it was girl, we agreed to name her Samantha. Before senior year ended, Isabella broke up with me and moved away after the schoolyear ended. I never heard from Isabella since then, and I've been looking for Samantha since. I was about to give up hope, but I crossed paths with her this past October, when she was on a date with a boy. Since then, I've been looking for her. So I called the orphanage, and the rest is history."
I nodded. I felt bad for him and Samantha. All he wanted was to reunite with his long lost daughter, and to find out that his daughter has been adopted. If I were in his place, I'd be heartbroken. Devastated, even. "I'll do everything I can, Tony," I said. "I will say that Sam was really ecstatic when she found out who her birth father."
Tony chuckled and nodded. He was about to say something, when I phone rang. "Excuse me, I have to take this," I said. He nodded and I walked outside. I took out my phone and picked up the call. "Hello?"
"Patrick, come by the house right now," I heard Pete yell.
"Dude, what's wrong? What happened?" I asked.
"Someone broke into the house... and kidnapped Samantha."
After hearing that I dropped both my phone and coffee.
My little girl has gone missing.
