The next few weeks, Adrien occasionally came over at lunch to talk to Iris, glancing at me and sending an apologetic look every time our eyes met.
I ignored him. But the look on his face seemed sincere.
Does he really feel bad for what happened? Is he really sorry? Do I start over and befriend him?
My thoughts trail off.
"Attention class!"
Our bio teacher's voice echoes through the room. The class falls silent with a few hushed voices heard here and there. Soon everyone's attention turns towards the front but it wasn't because of the teacher but the one standing beside him.
Jet-black hair, light honey skin and stormy grey eyes scanning every corner of the room. His smile, one of those rare ones you find yourself returning back without a thought. Contagious.
The teacher whispers something and he nods back. The smile never leaving his face.
"Ok everyone! I would like to introduce you to a new transfer student, Xavi. I hope you all make him feel welcomed. I am sure he will fit right in especially with an IQ of 148." He looks back at Xavi who in turn returns a polite smile.
Murmurs could be heard all around the classroom. Some talking about his looks and others about his genius IQ.
I on the other hand couldn't get over his name.
Seriously? Xavi? Out of all the names in the damn world...Xavi? And to think I was over that stupid story addiction. Why do I even care if his name is that? It's not like he's the same. The Xavi I am crushing over is 'fictional', I remind myself. I can't let a name affect me like how I let the looks of Adrien do.
I sigh and get back to studying for the upcoming test. Xavi sits at the end, far from my bench.
I chuckle at myself.
What was I expecting? The cliché 'new boy' comes and sits beside me or somewhere near me because there weren't any other seats in the class and stealing glances every now and then? Nah. He probably didn't even notice me. This ain't a Wattpad story.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The rest of my classes for the day goes by fast and I find myself walking towards Iris who is standing in the parking lot.
"Aly!" She hugs me.
I return it and slip into the passenger seat.
"Today was the worst. I didn't get to see you because of volunteering. I felt lonely." She pouts.
I laugh lightly at how cute she is.
Nothing is awkward between us, after all that happened and am more than glad for that.
I tell her about the transfer student and the attention he grabbed on his very first day.
She furrows her brows at the name 'Xavi', telling me that she heard that name somewhere before. I remind her about my fictional crush and that's probably where she heard it from. She didn't really look convinced, pressuring herself to remember, so I drop the topic in order to keep her from thinking hard about such an unnecessary thing.
"Bye Iris." I say and walk towards my house.
"Hey wait!" She yells and I turn back confused.
"Would you like to go for coffee in the evening? We can study together at the café."
I pretend to think for a few seconds trying not to sound too eager like the jobless person that I am. I have nothing better to do anyway so I yell back a 'yes' walking again and she smiles driving off.
The day hasn't been too bad I think, before hitting my head on the front door of my home.
I groan.
Way to go, Aly.
*Short Chapter but I felt like updating so yeah!*
