Infected: Chapter XIV

Kate introduces herself and her little sister more thoroughly over the next few days, it turns out they were in the supermarket store room living off chips and chocolate when they heard screaming. We stock up on all the vending machine food and move out of the LOLES supermarket. We decided we did not want another brush with a hybrid zombie, so we left the supermarket. We are walking down the Freeway, past all the rusty abandoned cars. I decide to have a try at Kate, I inconspicuously walk up to her, "So ahhh...." I start, damn, way to have a bad start with probably the last chick my age on Earth!

"Do you like...." I try, oh, poor, poor me, I suck...

"Killing zombies?..." I ask hopefully, Kate smiles,

"Yep" she replies.

"I make traps." she says, great, she can help us set up another fort-type-thing somewhere. I melt inside as she smiles, those blue eyes look A-MAZING. "Uh, cool!" I say awkwardly, I smile, unsure. "You're so funny!" she laughs hysterically, I look at her quizzically as she hunches over herself in a giggle fit, "You have no idea what to say to me do you?!" she says still laughing like a hyena. My face falls, ah.... BUGGER, I scream in my mind. Kate sees the crest-fallen look on my face and she panics, "No no no, I mean its so cute, you are putting so much effort into this aren't you?" she asks me, still grinning like a chesire cat. I slightly nod my head and look at my feet in shame, "Uh... Yeah..." I say sheepishly, but she smiles and leans over to me, grabs my arm and wraps it over her shoulder, "I think I'm going to like you." she says quietly, smiling like a million dollars. SCORE! I say to myself in my head, I close my eyes and smile amazingly, "I think I'm going to like you too...." I say back, hoping it is the right thing to say, she smirks again and closes her eyes as we keep on walking.
