Chapter 29

Lia~

It's been three days since I've woken up and I still haven't seen Lucas. Camille has resumed her role as beta, much to my council's dismay but none of them dared oppose my decision. Things have been running rather smoothly and although I do have the occasional dizzy spells and nausea, I'm back to full health, kind of.

"Lia, honey, maybe you should consider giving Camille more tasks instead of doing everything yourself, you're overworked and it's showing." Meaghan rubs my back as I dry heave over the toilet for the third time today.

"Thanks, Meaghan but I can handle it." I glance at her in the mirror and she gives me a worried look. The more I think of it, the more I remember seeing signs of her being a werewolf. The fact that she's so young with a teenage son, her keen senses, and now the words I heard her think makes so much more sense, she thought I could be Luc's mate but she had no way to be sure.

I walk towards the sink and start brushing my teeth again. Everyone's so worried about me, especially Meaghan but I'm fine, I'm better than fine actually. I've made up my mind and decided that it's time to follow my destiny and marry my true mate. If my mother says it's the right thing to do then it most likely is, "I'll have to leave you for a bit love, I'm heading home but I'll be back by next week. I have a few things to handle before I can permanently move back." my ears perk up and I turn to look at her.

"Did you just say move back?" my eyes are hopeful because her moving back means her joining my pack. Her pack was destroyed years ago and I know she hasn't been to any other packs besides ours.

She laughs lightly, "Yes, I did. I was hoping I could join the blood moon pack, that is if the queen accepts me." I squeal and jump into her arms, squeezing the life out of her.

"Of course you can join the pack. I'll have Camille draft up the necessary paperwork and you could join by the end of next week. Being of royal blood you'd easily be able to skip a few steps and the process will be even faster." she sends me a bright smile and I can see a light in her eyes I haven't seen before. She's happy to be back with her kind," Wait, does this mean Lucas is moving here too?" the sheepish smile is all the answer I need.

" I talked to my husband about it and he agrees that this is a good idea. Lucas is a bit wary of the idea because of how things ended between you both but he's supporting this decision. I want to be back with my people, being able to run in wolf form after so long of having to hide her." I nod at her in understanding. I can't imagine having to go that long without shifting, especially after the loss of a mate and her entire pack.

She walks towards the door when an idea hits me and my voice stops her, "Are you running in wolf form?" she nods at me and I can see the excitement in her eyes, "Then can you give Lucas a message for me?" her eyes shoot open but she nods encouragingly nonetheless. I channel my magic and close my eyes, blowing my hot breath into my closed hand. When I open both my eyes and my hand a little creature appears and a sense of accomplishment overtakes me.

Meaghan gapes at the little fire dragon dancing in my palm, its flames flickering in the pale moonlight streaming through the curtains. The dragon leaps into the air and morphs into an open scroll, words appearing in blazing letters before morphing back into the little flaming creature. I glance at Meaghan who's still staring at the messenger dragon with wide eyes. I motion for her to hold out her palm and after a bit of hesitation, she does. The dragon, whom I've named Kaya, jumps from my hand to Meaghan's making her scream out of shock. Kaya wraps herself around Meaghan's arm and solidifies, making her look like a golden bangle around Meaghan's wrist, "Where the hell did you learn to do that?"

I giggle and wave her off, "That's not important right now, what's important is that you get going so that Lucas can see that message. If and when he wants to come back wrap the messenger dragon around his wrist and tell him to say the words 'back home'. He'll be teleported back here. It only works once that's why I can't teleport you too. I need to talk to him about what's been happening. " she gives me a knowing look but I can tell that she's curious.
