Chapter 3

The house itself was more than three times the size of my previous home; and that was a pretty big house. The main-entrance was a huge marble staircase that led to two huge mahogany doors. Inside was an enormous hall that contained two staircases that led upstairs. The ceiling looked like it was fifty feet high and from it hung a beautiful crystal chandelier that took my breath away. To my right, I could barely see the kitchen, but I could definitely notice how big and fancy it looked, almost professional. To my left was a dining room furnished with white furniture, which made the room glow. To the far end of the room was a huge glass window and door that led to the fields. I made a mental note in my mind to explore the fields later on.

Christopher carried my suitcase and began climbing up one of the staircases. Being the lost person I was,  I followed him. On the first floor were two corridors, one to the left and the other to the right, both seemed endless. I had a feeling I'd be lost here quite a few times. Cutting me out of my panic attack, Christopher took the right corridor with me hot on his heels.

Every few meters or so, we'd have to turn a corner and frequently a door would come into view. After we based the seventh door, I sighed. I needed a freaking map for this place, I might have to ask Christopher to draw me one when we reach my room, if we reached it. On the eight door, he stopped walking then turned around to look at me. He nodded his head, motioning for me to enter. Opening the door, my eyes widened. Before me was the biggest and most magnificent room I'd ever stepped my foot in. It's walls were painted a beautiful shade of pale lavender. The furniture was white, including the king-size bed that stood there in the middle of the room with bed sheets the same color of the walls.

"Whoa," the words escaped my mouth. "You like it?" he asked hopefully. I nodded slowly still awestruck by the scene before my eyes. "Good," he replied as he set down my suitcase on the floor next to one of the other two doors my room contained then looked at me. "I'll leave you to settle in and freshen up. Your closet is behind that door," he said motioning to the door my suitcase laid in front of, "you can unpack and change from your travel clothes. I have to confess though, my mother went kind of wild when she found out that you're going to be living in this household since she's the only other female around here, so she demanded your size and went shopping. Don't be surprised if you found it filled with clothes." I smiled at that, his mother seemed like a wonderful woman; I was looking forward to meeting her. As if he read my thought, he said, "When you're done unpacking and settled in, come down and meet the rest of the family, they're all dying to meet you. I trust you know the way down?" I nodded, but doubting my answer. "Okay, I'll see you downstairs then," he said, heading towards the door. Before he walked past me, he stopped in his track. I looked up at him, wondering why he  stopped when he leaned down and placed a soft kiss on my cheek then left, leaving me there breathless with a scarlet blush, tinting my face beetroot red.

I headed towards my suitcase, dragging it along with me as I entered my closet. Turning on the lights, I stood there with my jaw almost touching the floor. The closet, if you call it that, was filled with endless varieties of clothes in all colors and styles in one side. They were all expensive brands that made my clothes look plain in comparison. On the other side were shoes and purses of different materials and designs. At the far end were jewelries full of crystals, gold, silver, jewels and emeralds. Everything was simply gorgeously eye-catching and breath-taking.

Unpacking  my clothes in the limited space provided, I went to check out the other door. As expected, behind the door was a bathroom completely made out of white marble. It was just like any other bathroom just double the size and included a Jacuzzi. I splashed water on my face, washing away any trace of previous sleep. When I was done, I changed into a pair of dark skinny jeans and a yellow loose fitted top and headed outside, fingers crossed in hopes of not getting lost as I began to walk down the corridor.

When I reached the tenth door, I finally admitted to myself that I was lost. i hoped someone behind this door would be able to help me. Trying my luck, I knocked on the door, no answer.  I was about to turn around and leave when I heard shuffling inside. I opened the door only to be greeted by darkness. Thinking it was just my imagination, I started to close the door again behind me when my eye glanced movement from the corner of the room. Acting without thinking, I entered.

As soon as I stepped foot into the room, I panicked. I wasn't thinking rationally; I'm a stranger in this house and I might as well be invading someone's privacy. I face-palmed at my stupidity. There was no point in turning back now, if there was anyone in the room they could've stopped me before. Building up the courage, I ran my hand blindly over the wall trying to find the switch to turn on the lights. As I was running my hand over the smooth surface, a rough hand stopped it. My eyes widened and the pace of my heart quickened. As I was about to scream, another rough hand that belonged to the same person holding my hand, stopped me. When the stranger made sure I won't scream, he removed his hand from over my mouth but kept a firm grip on my hand. The lights flicked on, revealing an attractive young man which looked slightly similar to Christopher, with the same shade of mesmerizing green eyes but with extra streaks of gold in them. One of the differences between him and Christopher is that he had messy charcoal black hair while Christopher had dirty-blond hair that reached his eyebrows neatly.

"Such an interesting way to set a first impression," his velvet voice said, sending goose-bumps throughout my body. I couldn't get my voice to work, my mouth kept on opening and closing but no words came out. I bet I looked like a retarded fish struggling for air on dry land, so I closed my mouth shut.

The stranger was looking at me with a smirk on his face, looking amused. I was getting irritated so I tried to move, tugging my hand out of his grasp but he wouldn't budge. I frowned at him, wondering why he wouldn't let me go. "You're leaving without introducing yourself, princess? You hurt me deeply," he said in mock sadness. I glared at him, not uttering a single word. "Well... since you're refusing to talk, I guess you're going to be considered lost for a while since you'll be staying here," he whispered as he leaned in, making me shiver. He pulled back and smiled smugly, obviously pleased with himself.

Oh how much I wanted to wipe that smug smile off his face.
