Davi
Tsu and the others left and I felt my stomach lurch as they did. She did a half salute and like that, they were gone. Stahsi cracked her fingers, "how we doing this?" I opened my mouth just as there was loud thudding against the sides of the van. "What the fuck?" I asked bracing my arms on either side of the cars body.
Kai grabbed Brandon who was stuck in the front seat in fear and yanked him towards the back. "They're shooting at us, they're not as stupid as we thought." He said sadly and I smirked, "alright- Stahsi, can you move us?" She opened her mouth to answer but stopped after a moment before nodding again. "I can but- it won't be comfortable for such a large number." I looked at her in confusion just as the car started groaning, "shit. DO IT!" I yelled, and the temperature in the car dropped immensely. As she pulled us out, I realized Jay wasn't with us.
"Where's Jay!?"
Stahsi's eyes went wide and just as she moved us out of the van through to the building I felt my body go weightless and heard an explosion. I heard several gasps and even a chuckle. I turned towards it and saw Elizabeth eyeing the now burning car with a smile on her face. She nodded just as another explosion went off and I turned to see Jay. She didn't have a scratch on her, in fact she looked completely fine.
Ecstatic even. She moved her hand, and I saw explosions coming out of it. One minute she was standing by the heap of car and strewn bodies, the next she was beside me panting slightly and smiling like a maniac. Stahsi's jaw dropped and Elizabeth shook her head, "so.... She's crazy, crazy. Good to know." I opened my mouth to say something but Kai just cut me off, "Misty, your time, let's go." She nodded and put her hand to his face concentrating hard.
I raised a brow and looked around, we were in what appeared to be the main entrance. Everything was torn up and rotted looking, papers were strewn here and there, and chords were hanging from walls. I put my hands to the wall and felt a small hum of electricity and couldn't help but smirk. "Done," Misty said and when I turned back, I stopped in my tracks.
"Whoa," it was the first time I'd gotten to see her tailoring ability in action. Kai's normally ginger hair was now jet black, his slightly paled skin was a dark mocha color, and his eyes which had been hazel were now a dark chocolate brown color. He was completely different, "you, come. This won't last long." She said ushering me in front of her while Kai started digging through Brandon's duffel bag he was carrying.
He pulled out a prison guards uniform and started layering it over his suit he had on. "This'll sting a little bit." She said before she started working. I grimaced as she touched my face and her fingertips felt like hot branding irons.
Within seconds it seemed, she was done and I turned, "how do I look?" Elizabeth shrugged, "kind of gay- to be honest." My eyes widened and Kai snickered. "We don't have time to fix it, just deal with it- here." He said shoving a uniform at me, i grumbled but pulled them on, "how long does this shit last?"
Misty flinched at the venom in my voice and I sighed, "sorry." Kai started going around handing out, "handcuffs?" I asked uncertainly and he only stared. "Kinky," I said with a smirk and finished dressing.
"So, what are we, prison guards and they're-"
"Our prisoners. Yes." Kai said finishing my sentence. "We need to get the poison. They only use the gas chamber here to put our kind down. Every single facility sends their prisoners here to be gassed." My stomach dropped as he spoke, and I noticed everyone around us having the same reaction. "Once a month they send the majority of those they deem 'untestable' down here. That's why the place is 'closed' we're essentially going the same place Tsu and the others are but I'm hoping they can get Jake our first."
I nodded but couldn't shake the sick feeling that had settled into my stomach. "How do you know about that? It wasn't in the debriefing," it was Brandon who spoke. He seemed to be the only one who pulled himself enough together to even ask. Kai sighed softly before cuffing Brandon and patting his shoulder, "because I've been here before." My eyes widened and Stahsi sucked in her breath, but Kai was done with the conversation.
His body language spoke legions even when his face didn't. He was stressed, and on edge I reached out to pat his shoulder but he pulled away. "Let's go." With that, we started walking and I suddenly heard voices yelling and people milling all around us. "What the-" I paused and Stahsi smiled, "you're in the shadows still. I haven't let it all down yet." She was sweating slightly and looked like she was overexerting herself slightly.
Still though, she spoke with a firm voice. "Though, I wouldn't recommend doing big big groups again until we absolutely have to."
I turned on her and grabbed her arm quickly, "what the hell does that mean? Shouldn't you have mentioned this sooner?"
She yanked her arm out of my grip and Elizabeth and Jay let off a sigh at the same time. "Eh are we gonna get to doin anything or are you just gonna act married and bicker?"
I shot her the middle finger and Stahsi smiled, "well the shadows are like my kids. They're not living living beings but they do still need payment. They never feed off of me and Dave since he protected me and earned their trust. Anyone else though," she shrugged, "if you stay too long you'll start feeling fatigued. I've instructed them not to bite you but, they're gonna need sustenance sooner or later." I looked to Kai incredulously and he looked as disturbed as I felt.
"How have you kept them fe- wait you've been on the run haven't you?" She smirked darkly as I realized how her and Dave never got caught. I closed my eyes before turning from her, "ok. That's nasty. You-" I say pointing to Jay.
"I'm gonna tackle you and tase you." She stepped back and laughed, "ehm no. That not gonna happen." Kai thought it over before nodding, "yes it is. You just blew up a van and killed their guards which is why they're going around like they are. If we show up just walking randomly not helping, it'll be too obvious."
She pursed her lips and I smirked, "you get two seconds head start. Do not hit my face or my nuts." She scoffed, "you're tackling me. I make sure it hurts you too."
With that, she took off making explosions here and there laughing maniacally. I gave her exactly two seconds before I took off like a shot. I instantly felt the relief from being in Stahsi's shadows. My body was no longer bone cold, and I felt like I'd been thrown out of the cold snow into a warm room.
She threw one blast over her shoulder towards me and I ducked, "get back here you fucking asshole!" I yelled letting anger deep into my voice, she almost fucking hit me.
I heard gasps of surprise around us as I gained on her and finally closed the space between us. I jumped and tackled her to the ground. She yelled and let off an explosion square in my chest blasting me off of her. I saw the smile on her lips as she did and silently cursed her.
There was a gasp and then I heard the sound of a taser going off and Kai's voice rang out, "you make me sick. I can't wait for you to get gassed." Jay groaned quietly as he hauled her to her feet and threw her at me. There were eyes on us now and I sighed, "sorry boss. I- I thought I had her." He sneered at me and turned to the rest of them, "is there a fucking problem?"
One man stepped forward and he looked vaguely familiar. He looked over Kai and myself and landed on Brandon who looked absolutely terrified, Elizabeth, Misty, Stahsi and the passed out Jay. His eyes widened at the sight of them, "you two," he said slowly.
"Caught them?" Kai nodded and walked up obviously self consciously as he was shaking slightly and trembling. I kept my eyes downcast slightly, but kept watch on the situation. "Y-yes sir," Kai said and his voice cracked slightly, I raised my brows at him and heard Elizabeth snicker. I glared at her and she dropped her eyes.
"Well done, how'd you do it? They're part of a larger group."
Kai stiffened and I stepped in, "it wasn't easy sir, Jasper Jones sir. Good to meet you, sir."
I say leaning forward to shake his hand aggressively. "We lured some of them out and ambushed the rest. We however lost the main group." I dropped my voice at the end so as to sound disappointed and the man laughed clapping a meaty hand on my shoulder. "You did a fine job, son! I can't believe you got them. They're slippery little bastards." The man was big, he definitely never missed a meal and his uniform looked half a size too small.
His hair was black with grey on the sides and it was receding on the top, it looked just like his personality: greasy. He had a punched in face that resembled a rat to me, and I didn't want to get anywhere near him.
I was sure I'd never seen him before, yet, looking at him I couldn't help but feel I've seen him before. Kai was doing an excellent job looking in shock and awe but something told me he wasn't completely faking. He turned to Kai who smiled softly and the man beamed, it was a horrible sight to see.
You'd have thought Kai was his favorite snack, "what are we gonna do with them?"
Kai looked from the man to the group behind us that was silent and looking scared. I took a deep breath and spoke, "what if- I know you've had some prisoners lined up but, perhaps due to circumstances we could-" I leave the sentence hanging and look from Jay to the officer.
His eyes widen and I see overwhelming joy swimming in the little puddles as he looks at Jay. "I think that's perfect! You wanna be the one to pull
The switch? I do enjoy watching them choke as the gas closes in on their lungs."
He smiled and rubbed his hands together and I forced a smile on my own lips. "Davi!" I grimaced at the sudden screech in my ear and the man studied me.
"Sorry, I have- Tourette's?" The man stoped and stared at me for a moment, lingering now. He nodded and turned but something about him had changed. Suddenly, the officers around us had weapons drawn and ready to shoot us.
"Whoa that escalated quickly! Come on man, never heard of Tourette's? This is- this is discrimination!" I tried my best to sound shocked and confused. "Please, let's drop the act, you're not very good at it. Who are you?" he asked looking from me to Kai and lingering on him.
"Who are you?" I asked challengingly, I could feel the electricity tingling in the walls beckoning to me but I resisted it- for now. The man turned so fast, I was caught off guard. I didn't know a man that size could move like that.
His hand cracked across my skull and I didn't see stars I saw the whole damn galaxy and Milky Way. I grimaced and shook my head trying to get the throbbing to quiet so I could listen to what he said before I killed him. "You listen to me, boy," he practically spat the word and I felt my skin crawl. I never did get to hear what I was supposed to be listening to, because in that moment, all the guards in the room started screaming.
I felt the shock from my squad and put a hand up to silence them, before putting my finger to the speaker in my ear. "What's up, why are you screaming on this?" Kai was standing over the man now and I could tell whatever had happened, this was personal. "Oh thank god! We got separated, and Dylan charged ahead, Mark stayed back as lookout, I- I'm conflictedidontknowwhattodoan-" I groaned rubbing my forehead in frustration. "Ash, shut up."
After a moment he stopped his babble and I could think. "What happened? Where's Tsu?" There was a brief pause and I turned to Kai and watched as he took out a small switchblade. His eyes were glazed as though he were in a trance and I frowned looking to Elizabeth.
She held her hands up in mock surrender and I saw the cuffs around her wrists. "Oh shit, sorry." I tossed each of them the keys before going back to Kai, his tailoring had all but worn off. If anything his skin was just slightly more tanned. Just as I got to his side I could hear the man begging for his life and I frowned.
"Kai, what is it?" Ash was speaking but I focused on the problem before me for a second. He sighed now and I knew what he was doing. He'd done it to me more times than I could count. Only, he wasn't stopping. Each and every one of these men was put to sleep, their emotional level manipulated so far that they will never wake up. At least theirs is peaceful. I turned to the heavier man and saw his hands on either side of his head as his mouth hung open in a silent scream. His mind was collapsing, when Kai would get mad at me he would manipulate my emotions so my mind and everything around me would be so calm it was deafening.
The silence hurt it enclosed you in a small space and wrapped you up, making you unable to move. Your ears rang and rang, and the pressure in your mind became too great. It was the worst pain I'd faced when he'd done it to me the first time. "Kai, look at me! He's gone." I grabbed his face between my hands but his eyes were on the man. His lip trembled and I could practically feel the wave of emotion he threw at the man.
"Kai!" Just then, Ash's voice crackled through again, and I heard Brandon gasp in shock, "Davi, I need you. It's Tsu. She's hurt." Kai snapped out of it then and when his eyes focused on me I could see a bit of resolve steel itself into him. There was sickness and hurt in his eyes but it was quickly masked with fear and worry.
"Let's go." With that, he stood and surveyed his work with a smirk before taking off, he got to the door on the side of the room just past the entrance and grimaced but I held my hand up to the wall. While they wanted everyone to believe this place was shut down, the power still ran and controlled the doors. I felt the electricity coursing through the power lines and smirked, "easy peasy."
After a moment, there was a soft click and the door opened after he pulled it. "Shouldn't we sepesrate?" Brandon called to us and I frowned shaking my head. On either side of us was rows of cells, there was a big empty area that was the main room. It was probably used as a rec area.
There were two floors above us and from what I could see, there were cells on each one. We ignored this room though and kept going to the personnel only areas and popping the doors. Jerome had had us memorize the schematics for this place, before coming.
I remember every twist and turn we had to take to get to the chamber that was housed below, only, I had a weird feeling. Something didn't feel right, we were going exactly the way it showed on the map but I noticed the building looking more worn this way. Somethings not right, my mind said, say something! Just as I opened my mouth, we reached the door for the basement and found-
"A wall?" Kai asked incredulously. I frowned and put my hand to it, there was no electricity, no power, nothing. It was blank. "Th-this doesn't make sense. We followed the schematics!"
Elizabeth stepped forward and held her hand out to the wall beside mine, her eyes were closed and her aura had changed. She was deathly calm and everything about her seemed almost tranquil.
I watched as she stared at the wall, her hand moving this way and that, after a moment, she sighed and I saw her brows furrow in confusion before nodding. When she spoke, her voice was soft as if she was trying not to disturb anyone.
"This was the place where they'd take us, countless souls have been stuck here for a long time. But it's no longer the place we seek." She sighed and dropped her head before looking me directly in the eyes, "the chambers' been moved. All that's left here is the lost souls who left too fast to realize what even happened to them."
I sighed and looked back at where my hand was on the wall, it was almost like I could feel the wrongness of it. All the souls who were trapped here, and for what? Being who they were. Being how they were born, they were chosen to die, sold out, cast out, however you wanted to look at it. All those people ended up here. Tsu's next if you don't get to her soon.
I sighed sadly feeling the ache in my heart but turned away from the wall. "Ok, apparently the gas chamber wasn't on the schematics- but Tsu was definitely there so, where is it?"
Elizabeth pursed her lips as she silently prayed for the souls who were trapped here. No one gave me an answer and I sighed, "damn it! Enough, Jay," I say turning to her quickly. "Make us a way out. This place is going down."
She smirked at that and it was as though I'd told her it was Christmas morning. "Keep up, losers." Was all she said before she suddenly blasted up with her explosions.
I coughed slightly and grimaced at the new hole above us. Elizabeth sighed and rolled her eyes, "should've had her destroy that," she said pointing to the wall.
I felt my frown deepen but sighed again, "I got it, you guys go. She's making a path for us don't waste the time." They nodded uncertainly and took off, while Kai stood beside me, "go, she'll need you." I urged and he leaned against the wall. "What're you planning to do?" He asked casually and I sighed, "move." I put my hand up just as there was a crashing on the other side of the wall.
I smirked half to myself and turned back to him before walking passed and going up the way we'd come. "Seems someone's already got a handle on it, for me." He frowned looking at me, "what?"
Just then, the wall blew open and before us stood Jay. She smirked and nodded to me, I grabbed hold of Kai just as I put my hand up. He looked from me to her clearly not following the sudden wavelength the two of us were on.
There was an explosion and I felt as my weight was suddenly ripped from the ground.
She grunted, "uh ok, what the hell you eating? You heavy as shit." I couldn't help but laugh at that, "you are carrying two, not just one."
"Bull shit," she muttered under her breath. There were more explosions as we moved and Kai looked slightly terrified. "Looks like my entrance is blocked," she said looking down I followed her gaze and saw that there was what looked like an all out melee happening now.
I could see Brandon, in wolf form, tearing through throngs of people. Would be cops, security, and civilians they'd brought in special. Elizabeth had Misty behind her fighting with what looked like desecrated bodies around them. Kai sighed, "drop me. They need me, you go to Tsu, it's been a minute since they called." Jay grumbled, "I'm not slowing down- there's a chimney on that building." Her sentence changed pace and caught my attention. As I looked, I saw a newer building made to look old with what was definitely a chimney like factories had- or crematoriums.
"That's it, that's where they moved the chamber." She nodded and started blasting our way over Kai dropped just into the middle of the fray. There was what sounded like a cosmic clap and I watched as Kai hit the ground and a wave rushed away from his body. It washed over everyone and all police, security, and anyone else opposing us fell. I couldn't help the proud smirk that crossed my lips as I watched them fall.
"Ash," I said and instantly heard the crackle come through in my ear. "Davi! Thank god! Where've you been!? Mikey- I don't know what he did to her but I heard a crash and I know it was her. I- I can't-"
I groaned just as Jay dropped me to the ground, "doesn't matter where I've been, I'm here now. Get me in- now!"
I threw my hands out as the ground approached and used my power to brace the fall. Lightning crackled out of my hands and I grimaced at the pain shooting through my arms but it didn't matter.
All that mattered was Tsu. Damn it! She said she could handle Mikey. I grunted as I saw a blur of light and felt my hand taken and yanked through this godforsaken building. The building had a cold, sullen feeling to it, the air as you breathed was oppressive and heavy. I could feel the death that was in these walls.
It made my skin crawl and my stomach churn I could practically hear the screams of people who'd been drug through these halls. "It's just up here," Ash's voice flowed back to me as he ran with me. I saw cells fly past my vision, they were dank and smelled of mildew.
He slowed and stopped just before what appeared to be a barrier. "Why are we-" my words dried on my tongue before they could reach my lips as I saw a horrible sight. It was Tsu. She was lying on the floor, her skin was deathly pale and her eyes were closed. There was blood dripping down her forehead from where she'd obviously hit it, "Tsu, Tsu!" I called shaking her softly. I heard someone laugh behind me and turned to see, "Mikey."
My voice was low as I glared at the other man. He looked smug as he glanced to the still form of Tsu in my arms.
"Tsu, wake up," I said gently shaking her, Ash was beside me though he looked pained. "I can't help," he said quietly. I felt movement in my arm and looked down to see her eyes flutter open. I couldn't help but smile at her, her eyes focused on me and in them I saw confusion, "Davi?" She asked softly, and I smiled, "it's me. I'm here." I heard footsteps coming near and put my hand out, instantly electricity shot out from my palm and I heard Mikey's scream.
"I've got you," I whispered softly and she leaned back "I want to do this." Her voice surprised me with how firm it was, she stood slowly and I rose beside her. "What the hell-" he held her hand up, "later." My hand fell to my side and I watched as Mikey gasped in pain. "How-" he choked out and I frowned looking from him to Ash.
"What's his problem? He knows I can do this, did he get stupider?" Ash chuckled at that and scratched the back of his neck, "this room- it didn't allow us to have powers." I looked from Ash to Mikey and slowly put my hand back up.
Electricity crackled and shot out hitting him square in the chest again and he cried out in pain, "seems to work just fine." I said with a smirk, "Ash, go find the others, Davi and I can handle this." There was a rumble of thunder and I felt as the wind picked up. I raised a brow in question to Tsu but she was t watching me, her eyes were locked on Mikey. "Go," I whispered and like that, Ash was off. I could feel the pressure in the room building, it sat heavily on my chest.
The air grew thick and heavy as the wind grew around us, "Tsu?" I asked uncertainly and she just smirked at me without speaking a word. "A mistake, am I?" She asked and her voice was filled with venom. "Never loved or wanted, was I?" The air surged and I heard him choking. I looked from Tsu to Mikey and was almost shocked to see he couldn't breathe.
"What the hell?" His face looked sunken in and he clawed at his throat trying to pry invisible hands off so he could breathe.
"Never wanted and worthless? Is that right?" With each question, she took a step closer to Mikey. She didn't stop until she was right in front of him. What the hell happened in the span of five minutes? He clawed at his throat and I could see the strain in his neck as he choked and tried to gasp for air. Suddenly, the air swarmed around us like a maelstrom and I couldn't help but duck from the force of it. "Jesus Christ," I muttered looking from Tsu to Mikey. I watched as Mikey's eyes widened in fear as the air struck him and he leaned back from the pressure. "Tsu!?" I called and she turned to me breaking her focus for a moment.
"Davi, I told you I'd kill him. Do not get in my way," I frowned, "I never will- just, tell me what you're doing." She sighed, "he told me all these things." She reached back and slapped him across the face so hard I could practically see the stars dancing overhead.
Maybe he saw the Milky Way too. "As if he knew what my mother thought. My mother, my grandmother." She whispered the last word and my eyes widened, "I'm going to torture him. I'm going to make him beg and cry for his breath and when finally, he gets it he's going to wish it would stop. His lungs will burst eventually. I want to see that," she turned back to Mikey now, her eyes filled with hatred.
"You're going to beg for your life," with that I watched as she grabbed his head with each hand and smirked. "My power, Mikey, is to manipulate the elements. I can manipulate air currents to fly," her voice was deathly calm now and I couldn't help but be enraptured by her. She was deathly calm, and it was absolutely beautiful.
"Every breath you take, creates its own current." I felt my mouth drop just as I watched Mikey's eyes widen in fear and Tsu smiled. He was crying now, from the pain she was inflicting on him, only she didn't stop.
It was a truly terrifying sight, it showed how far she'd fallen from being the sweet girl he'd known. There was genuine, utter terror in his eyes as he saw her for the unhinged terror she was in front of him. His breathing was heavy as he panicked. Suddenly, Tsu breathed in deeply and I watched Mikey's cheeks hollow and his eyes bulge as all air was sucked from his body. "Oh fuck," I muttered I'd never seen her do anything like this before, it was absolutely terrifying, and amazing. Slowly she breathed out and into his mouth and I watched as the air flowed straight through and he choked as it was too much, too fast. His eyes watered and his hands clawed at her but she didn't budge.
She sucked in again and his eyes closed in absolute unrelenting pain as once again the air was sucked from his very being. I couldn't help but put my hand to my chest as I watched her viscously rip the very air from his body, and return it ten fold.
The only question that kept coming to my mind was a simple one. Who the fuck taught her this? Suddenly, I remembered her and Mark talking before we'd left. He'd been saying something about 'new moves' how did he even survive to teach her this?
I didn't have time to ask as I heard a sudden thud, like a sack of potatoes hitting the floor. When I looked back, I saw Mikey sprawled out on the floor at her feet and Tsu smirking down at him. She kneeled down over him and I watched his eyes roll slowly, so he's not dead. Yet, I couldn't speak out loud, I was too caught up in watching how she moved. She looked like a dangerous predator, like a panther stalking it's prey. Her movements were so fluid and slick, I could see the fear clearly present in the boys eyes.
He knew death wasn't far off, "I'll have you know, Mikey, I saw my mother when you kicked my head in." Her voice was soft now, as though she were afraid to rouse him. "She said you were a worthless child, who feared change. You wanted to prove yourself, to a man who wasn't worth anything. I wasn't a mistake but a blessing to my mother. You, on the other hand, are nothing more than a ridiculous child. I have no time for children, in fact, I don't even like them."
She leaned down directly next to his ear now and I leaned to hear her. It was hard and very very faint, but I caught what she said. "It's why I killed yours, not because my sister was unfit- she definitely was- but because I hated the idea of a child being around. A child that could have turned out just as disappointing and disgusting as you. You are worthless. You were a mistake. You will join your child and you will die by my hand."
With that, she drew her hand across his neck quickly and I jumped slightly not quite sure what had happened.
It wasn't until I saw the blood welling up and spilling over that I knew what she'd done. She'd slashed his throat, I didn't know she'd had it in her to make such a bold move. I felt as my words choked on my lips and I stared at her in awe. Mikey was dead. She leaned back and stood looking down at his still form. "Goodbye Mikey." Was all she said, before turning to me, just as she opened her mouth there was a loud explosion. "I think we're needed outside." She said calmly, looking to me with big innocent eyes. I raised a brow and looked her up and down. The blood from Mikey had hit her, she had some on her cheek. It was mixed with the blood that had dripped from her head wound.
It had definitely healed by now, the blood was dried and no longer flowing but still. I held my hand out to her and she took it gratefully, leaning into me slightly. "I think you're right."
