Rayla:

Depression isn't a new thing in Rayla's life. It's followed her around since her parents died, and it's following her around right now. Maybe it's unfair that she lives at a palace, but what choice did she have? She's an elf, a royal.

Elves aren't commoners.

Rayla rounded a corner with a sigh and accidentally bumped into an old lady. She stepped back in shock, watching the old lady's facial features morph into disgust.

"Oh miss I am so sorry," Rayla rambled while smoothing down her dress. She felt so bad, why can't she be a little more attentive?

The lady side eyed her. "You should be,"

Rayla snapped her head at her in shock, what is that supposed to mean?

"Excuse me? What is that supposed to mean?" Rayla demanded, suddenly not feeling bad for almost knocking her down. It's not like she thought she was all high and mighty, but does no one give any royals respect?

"You know what I mean, you should be sorry for being here. Always throwing balls, eating our fresh food, getting new clothing every second day," She snapped, putting her hands on her hips.

Rayla stepped back. "I have no choice, you know we need an heir!"

The lady scoffed. "That's what magic is for, you're just a useless waste. Do us all a favour and leave,"

Rayla gasped, feeling tears welling up in her eyes. Never before in her life words have cut her so deep, other than when they told her that her parents died. She quickly turned around, ran past the boy's house, past at least another dozen broken houses and entered into the forest. She was gasping for air, trying to not have a breakdown. The forest is familiar for her, so she ran towards where she always hung out. She reached a familiar cliff.

She watched the icy water splash against the rocks with tears streaming down her face. She always hangs out here, waiting to jump, waiting to end it.

The lady is right, Runnan and Ethari can use magic.

In one swift movement she took off her shoes and stood at the very edge. Her messy hair blew in the icy  wind as she took a deep breath. She closet her eyes and prepared herself to jump.

"I wouldn't do that if I were you."  A voice came from behind her. Rayla gasped to look around and see the same boy from the house. Her eyes widened in fear and surprise, before her commen sense quickly overtook her.

"Stay back, o-or I'll jump!" Rayla said. She leaned further over the edge. His eyes widened and he gasped in surprise.

"Woah woah woah!"   He said holding his hands out. She shrunk away.

"What are y'a doin?" She asked.

"Please don't jump." He begged, stepping closer to her. "Whatever is wrong doesn't matter, this isn't the way to solve your problems!"

"This is none of your business!" Rayla said, fear glazing her eyes. She let out a quick breath

"You're our princess, who's about to kill herself." He deadpanned. Rayla looked back at the water with tears in her eyes. "Plus, you'll probably hit your head on a rock and it'll hurt, you might not even die and you'll have to live through the pain,"

Rayla looked back at him in fear, suddenly thinking of the possibilities. What if she doesn't die the easy way and has

"You're just messin with me." She stuttered. He clicked his tongue and scraped the dirt with his shoe.

"When i was a boy, i fell down that very cliff hitting my head hard on a rock. My mom saved me but ended up dying. I didn't wake up for weeks after, only to find my mom dead." He said in a low voice, Rayla looked back down the cliff, trembling. The boy held out his hand.

"You don't want to do this."

"You can't decided what I want to do with ma life." Rayla shot at him.

"You would've already jumped." He pointed out. She looked at his hand that was open towards her.

"Callum, my name's Callum." He said. Rayla slowly turned all the way around, tears in her eyes.

"Rayla," She mumbled. Callum let out a laugh and extended his head even more towards her.

"I know what your name is Princess," Rayla felt her cheeks heat up. "Grab my hand," He urged softly. She hesitantly reached out her hand, shaking a little in fear. She stepped on the bottom of her dress and slipped.

She screamed, losing her footing and falling off of the cliff. A hand grabbed her arm, it was Callum.

"Don't let go!" She screamed, tears falling out of her eyes.

"Don't worry, I got you." He said panting for breath. She tried to ignore the fear in his eyes. Her pulled her all the way up with a grunt, pulling her into his arms tightly. She sobbed into his shoulder as they both melted onto the ground. He took deep breaths, soothingly rubbing circles into her back.

"It's ok, you're not gonna fall." He soothingly said. She let off a cry. "I'm not going to let you go Princess, I promise."

She pulled away and wiped her tears. "I'm sorry." She whispered.

"There's nothing to be sorry for," He whispered, gently pulling her to her feet. "Let me bring you back to my house, I could make you something warm." He murmured, sweeping her off her feet.
