I wake up on the ground. My heads throbbing. I want to cry.
Why am I here?
Why does it have to be me?
And then I remember what happened.
I sit up, forgetting about my head in that moment. All that was on my mind was Miles.
He was still laying there on the ground, paler than a ghost.
I get up to him and notice he's unconscious.
"Miles, wake up!"
I shake him a bit but he doesn't wake.
"Miles, please!!"
I continue shaking him but he's not waking up.
"Miles, miles, please stay with me!! Miles come on open your eyes. Miles!!"
I let my head drop forward on his chest, crying once again.
"Miles, please wake up. I'm so sorry. I'm so terribly sorry. This is perfectly dreadful and I'm sorry."
As I'm rambling, I don't notice he's moving.
"Caroline.."
"I'm so sorry miles, I'm so sorry."
"Caroline!"
I jolt up and look at him. He's staring at me, eyes wide.
"Miles! You're awake!"
I go to hug him and then stop.
"Wait a minute, you Miles or Quint?"
He grabs his head and groans.
"No, I'm for sure this is me, Miles. My head fucking hurts. What happened? I can't remember anything."
I let my hand rest on his arm.
"You weren't you. Quint tried to possess you so you could kill me and then let him in cause you'd feel so bad."
He shudders.
"No, I tried to kill you?! This can't be possible, this can't be possible. He's dead- he's gotta be- is he not dead?"
He's trying to curl away from me but I won't let that happen.
"He's dead, Miles. He just wouldn't let go without some form of revenge."
I'm pulling him closer when he starts lashing and thrashing away from my grip.
"No! I tried to kill you! I cant be near you!! I cant! What if it happens again? Oh my god, what if it happens again?! What about you and flora and Kate? How do I live like this? How?! I'm scared and angry Caroline and I don't want to hurt you!!!"
By the end of his rant he's sobbing against my shoulder. I hold him tightly and whisper soft words into his ear.
"It's gonna be okay miles it's gonna be okay. I'm so proud of you. You're so brave and strong."
He falls asleep crying on my shoulder and I just cant get over how he almost lost himself again like that fateful day.
Wow that was short but alright. Have a nice day!
