I couldn't see a thing.
But even at first, I knew that the space was small, only enough room for myself along with the demon who'd dragged me in. I followed Akaza in blindly, attempting to swallow up any fear caused by the lack of room. I wasn't necessarily one who normally did well in closed spaces, but my profession pretty much forced that unnecessary fear out of me.
Akaza's assertive hold loosened as we hid behind the mossy curtain, dropping my arm—yet I still knew exactly where he was. Without any room between us, it wasn't all that difficult to locate him. He was pressed right up against me, our torso's connecting.
He didn't say a word—at least not at first. In fact, after about a second, it was suddenly just the two of us, right against one another with hardly an inkling of light.
When that fact finally set in, I tried not to show any sort of nervousness towards him. Instead, I did my best to focus my mind on my surroundings—ones that weren't the body pressed against me. I wasn't sure what exactly it was, but being so close to him was something that always elicited a similar set of alarms inside my mind.
But it was still smart to least get some sort of analysis in as to what exactly this tree—or hut—was. And why the hell there was such little room inside such a huge tree trunk. However, I was unfortunately not granted a single second to do so.
Because without any warning whatsoever, Akaza suddenly twisted me around, and in one swift movement, my back was facing him. His arm came to grab ahold of my stomach and drawing me closer to him. My back was now pressed up against his bare chest, his arm wrapped around me and holding me against him.
I almost yelped at the action, but the next thing he did was bring his blue-fingered hand up to cover my mouth in full, not allowing me to say a word.
My eyes widened—
"Don't speak," he said quietly, his voice sounding as though it were directly by my ear. "We need to wait here."
A single breath from him—one that I felt by the sensitive area of my neck—told me I was right about my assumptions at exactly how close he was.
"Understand?" he asked, his sultry voice making me close my eyes, even against the dark. He wasn't aggressive, even by the way he was holding me, but he was assertive. And that was how I knew... that listening to him, to whatever he said to do, would most likely be the wisest option for me at the moment.
