After the quick maneuvers through the crowd, it wasn't long before we reached the place we would be staying. Missing sunlight by what felt like a hairs breadth, my brows scrunched in confusion at the building Akaza approached.
What also had taken me by surprise, was the fact that Akaza could walk and be amongst the other humans around without having a single problem. And vide versa... the humans didn't even seem to notice him. Either they couldn't tell what he was, or they were simply too absorbed in their own lives.
Either way, it hadn't mattered much to me. Though I still felt a touch of worry when he'd get a few questioning glances. Especially at the fact at how he was carrying me.
At one point or another, I came to realize why some people began to question us. They most likely saw how he was holding me and assumed... we were together. Which we were, technically, but...
I'd had to swallow, shaking the thought and judgement from others out of my head. It did nothing to take their visible thoughts into consideration.
But it didn't take long to rid of that odd feeling once we reached the small building—so different from the private house we'd been at not too long ago.
"What is this place?" I asked, peering up at him as he placed me down gently.
He sighed, putting his hands on his hips. "It's nothing special—but it'll have to do while we wait."
I opened my mouth to ask what he meant by waiting, but remembered I would be getting my answers soon enough.
Hopefully then, all would make sense.
Wordlessly, Akaza then took ahold of my hand, his blue-tipped fingers interlocking with my own. Almost jumping at the action, my eyes shot towards him in exasperation.
How could he always manage to surprise me?
"Just follow me," he said, grinning with a glance back at me, leading the two of us through the small door.
Looking behind us one final time to be sure nothing would go wrong, Akaza allowed me to walk in front of him, keeping his grip on me. And though it had shocked me to quite an extent, part of me was glad for the touch—somehow, it felt reassuring. He never took ahold of me harmfully, but it was always assertive—full of strength.
