A/N if this goes out when planned HAPPY 500K ON BRUISES WOOOOOO HALF A MILLION BABYYYY I love you all so much and thank you<33
Drip. Drip. Drip.
The rain slowly poured against the window of the hospital, bright, white lights surrounding the small room that smelled of vanilla bean and peach. The television was on, yet on mute. It was the news, talking about the car crash... again.
In the tiny, compact room, there were quite a few people. Sapnap and Karl were obviously there everyday and every night, Dream was there most nights, and even Quackity showed up a couple times a week. They have been waiting for two weeks now for George to wake up, yet no signs proved to them that that was going to happen. They hoped and begged and prayed...
But it never seemed to be enough.
Because praying to a man in the sky or begging an invisible force was not going to immediately just make the brunette's mind start to function properly.
They needed a miracle.
Yet, miracles aren't around every day and don't just stroll upon you; they might not even be real. Sapnap, though, knew that George would get through this; he had to know. If he didn't act like his best friend was going to get through this, then his death? It would partially be his fault.
He wouldn't be able to live with himself.
He had to trust that there would, in fact, be a miracle that day. All of them did; especially Dream. Because if Dream didn't, then he would have been the one who started the race to death; he would have started it all. The break up was really hard on George, and that was when things fell apart; that was when hope started fading.
Karl? He didn't have anything to do with the death; in fact, he saved his best friend's life multiple times, just with a simple three words: I love you.
Yet, he also had everything to lose if the brunette died; he would lose him. His best friend, his brother, his platonic soulmate. He couldn't--he wouldn't risk it.
But while the thread of hope was getting thinner for George on the outside, within him it was a WHOLE different story.
Although something seemed off about the situation George was apparently in(in his mind)he still treated it as if it was his last chance to truly and utterly live.
And also, actually survive, seeing as within the dream or nightmare or whatever it was, the gray, stained, concrete walls embedded with dying, pink roses were slowly closing in on him and the one and only Dream with no escape.
"Why do I have to be stuck in here with you?" George groaned with annoyance dripping from his tone, rubbing his temples trying to search for any sort of hope, yet none seemed to appear. He was going to die; with Dream.
How poetic.
"I know it sucks, but let's just try to look for an exit-" Dream tried to say, before getting interrupted by an aggravated and angry George.
"Can't you see? THERE IS NO EXIT! We are going to die together like fucking Romeo and Juliet, except without the poetic, epic 'romance'," George sarcastically said, making sure to air quote the word romance. He would have rather died sooner rather than later at that point.
"George, look, I'm sorry I stopped the kiss and I am sorry about everything I did to hurt you, but you have to understand. You weren't READY for a relationship-"
"You do not get to control when I am and am not ready, Clay. You don't get to control my emotions and manipulate me into thinking something else when I KNOW I am ready. You made me feel worthless...,"
"Like I didn't even deserve anything at all."
Sorrow filled Dream's emerald eyes as the words continued to roll off of the brunette's tongue like it was nothing.
"What about me?"
"What?" George asked, his body gaining more confusion every second the blond doesn't talk.
"I know I was an absolute DICK to you when our romantic days were breathing their last bits of air, but I- I did it on purpose-"
"How does THAT help? That makes it worse, Clay."
"I DID IT BECAUSE IT WAS EASIER THAT WAY! It was easier for me to let you go when you already hated me," Dream spat out and slowly looked to the floor--or at least, what was left of it.
The walls kept gaining ground on them, the thorns among the saddened roses only a couple of feet away now. The floor was also the same concrete, flower petals spread along the ground. The ceiling was also the same, old cement, cracks letting water slowly drip down upon the two boys.
"So, you did all of that... just for yourself?" George's eyes seemed to turn red, hostility seeping through his core.
"You were a selfish BITCH when I tried and tried again to get you to love me and fucking appreciate me. You continually drenched me with tears of manipulation and soaked me in pools full of lies. I- I trusted you with secrets I have not even told Karl or Sapnap... I TOLD YOU ABOUT MY DEAD FUCKING BROTHER FOR GODS SAKE"
No one knew about what happened to George's brother, or that the boy even had a brother in the first place, except Dream. The brunette trusted him enough to spill all of his guts and send all of his love to him, but all the blond did was throw it away.
All for the money.
"I was nothing to you," George shakily whispered into Dream's ear as the walls began to close in on them, the thorns of the roses pricking their backs.
"Nothing at all."
The boy shot up in the hospital bed, a cold sweat dripping down his forehead. He didn't know where he was, or what was happening.
All he knew was that the dream--well, a nightmare, if anything--he had just had... it wasn't just his imagination wandering.
It was the harsh feelings that whirled in the pit of his stomach trying to wake him up, to signal that negative thoughts aren't the end.
They are merely the beginning.
