48 hours until the flight that changes everything.

48 hours until the goodbye that repeats itself in history.

48 hours until hundreds of miles separate the Romeo and Juliet of the present.

They better make the time last while they still can.

______________

The pop off crew left the hospital, the silence being the loudest it has ever been before. Officially, without a doubt, their lead guitarist and singer at that point in time had just agreed to a record deal and a solo career. Their old lead singer that now would be the actual main character on stage could not even whisper a word without the fear of fainting again; yet this information only had two days to process in their minds before the deed was done.

History repeating itself time and time again. It came to the point of not even attempting to turn the tides because at the end of the day, the sun would always rise in the east and set in the west.

Dream and George's story would always end with sorrowful goodbyes and painful memories, like a never ending fairytale with the bittersweet knowledge that it would always be an uphill battle without ever seeing their actual happy ending. It made their relationship all the more exciting, yet at the same time, set disaster up to strike time and time again when they least expected it.

Even with the pop off crew generally supporting each other's decisions, this was easily the hardest to get behind. All the time they spent perfecting each and every lyric and each and every melody just went down the drain with only one, simple word—yes.

Though the days they had left were limited, the whole friend group, band, and found family was going to make every second and millisecond count, including in this very moment. They weren't going to let go of every single goal they worked towards so easily; Dream was not going to leave without a few more memories to go with him.

All of them—excluding George—rushed to the car and hopped in, waiting for the injured song writer to trudge along to the back seat. After all of the boys were in, Quackity drove around town—like he does all of the time—to find the perfect spot to hang out in. Eventually, his memory led him to the park where he reunited with the brunette after leaving; such a bittersweet taste considering the events which were occurring.

They parked the car next to the curb and swiftly made their way towards the best part of any park—the swings!  They pushed each other and took turns doing underdogs to each other, as if they time traveled back to ten years old. Since the place was vacant and more empty than an abandoned ghost town, they had free range over whatever they wanted to do. They played tag, raced each other down the slippery slides, and all around had a blast messing around with one another.

The feeling of being a little kid would never get old—quite literally.

The sun swiftly faded into darkness as the moon rose above it. Stars painted the sky with bright, golden hues. The boys all laid on the verdant grass, gazing upon the brilliant night, reminiscing on the all of the memories they had as a band. The all-nighters when practicing for a gig, dancing around the kitchen while they made popcorn, actually reaching hundreds of people with their own music; it was a rush they wanted to hold on to forever.

   But that could never happen.

And those merry memories soon turned into bitter goodbyes as the days flashed right before their very eyes. There were 24 hours until the plane would take off, and all they wanted was more time.

Yet, the clock doesn't stop because of desires; it keeps going and going until life comes to a close. Even then, the ticks of the alarm will never stop because the only sure thing in life is that time will keep moving, even after death.

The hours ticked by and soon enough it was time to say goodbye to their best guitarist and their best friend. As the streets were lit up with the sun rise since the flight was early, the car was eerily silent with the feeling of missing Dream already taking over their bodies.

Once the boys were parked, they all hopped out of the car and tried to have a normal conversation, but the sorrow sliding through their voices was enough to say all of the thoughts that flooded all of the band members' heads. Quackity was the first to say goodbye, seeing as he had known the blond for the shortest amount of time. Then Karl and Sapnap pulled him in for a tight group hug, watery eyes filling up the room.

   Then it was George's turn.

"Are you sure you want me to go? I can miss my flight and head back home!" Dream whispered mournfully.

   "No. I'm really, really not."

   "Then why am I leaving?"

"Because no matter what, you'll still leave me," George stated with a tears slowly flooding his eyes.

   "What do you mean?"

"You'll leave emotionally; I love you too much to let you do that to yourself."

It seemed like hours were passing as they gazed into each other's eyes, even if it was only for a mere ten seconds. Dream started pulling his suitcase towards the security check in, never taking his eyes off of  the brunette.

"WAIT!" George shouted, sprinting and basically tackling the other boy with a bear hug. Their embrace lit up everything in the room, like it was a scene from a movie.

Yet, not all fairy tales get a happily ever after.
