Beam's pov:
I couldn't help the frown on my face as I went into my room and into the closet to get some clothes.
He's only been eating cheap snacks and water for the last 4 months? He doesn't have enough money to be able to afford full meals even?
Just what kind of life has he been living for the last 2 years he's been unemployed for?
From what Fern told me, he has a lot of talent and is one of the main reasons why our work is going as fast as it is.
And not only that, from what she's gathered from some of the other workers, he's really kind to everyone around him and never says anything bad about anyone. Not even the people who say shit about him both to his face and behind his back.
And yet, someone like him has had such difficulties finding work when he should have been getting offers on offers instead.
And the reason behind that? A scar that he can't change.
I gritted my teeth.
A fucking sick world we live in.
People are being turned down and rejected because of something about themselves they can't change no matter how much they want to.
I heard the doorbell ring just as I went out of my room with a pair of clothes.
I went and opened it.
"Good morning p'Kyle." I smiled and opened the door wider letting him in.
"Good morning Beam. How is the boy?" He asked stepping inside.
"He woke up. He said he's feeling better ut still looks quite pale." I answered as we made our way towards the guest bedroom.
"It's no wonder. His body is exhausted. One IV isn't going to get him back into shape." He sighed.
I nodded in agreement.
When we went into the room he was still sitting in the same position as he was when I left.
"Good morning Mingkwan. My name is Kyle. I'm Beam's family doctor." P'Kyle went up to the bed and introduced himself.
Mingkwan slowly nodded. "Good morning doctor."
"Now, how do you feel? Does it hurt anywhere?" He kept his suitcase on the nightstand before taking his stethoscope and checking him.
Mingkwan shook his head. "Just a little dizzy and weak. Nothing more."
"That's good. You should take more care of yourself you know? Not eating proper meals for months on end is not a very smart move." P'Kyle sighed after he finished checking him and removing the IV.
Mingkwan bt his lips and looked down.
I cleared my throat making p'Kyle look at me.
I shook my head.
He seems to have gotten the clue and didn't ask anymore.
"Just make sure to eat 3 proper meals a day and drink a lot of water from now on. And don't overwork yourself." He looked at Mingkwan who nodded obediently.
"I'm guessing it's more than an issue of not taking care of himself?" P'Kyle asked as I escorted him out after I gave Mingkwan the change of clothes and told him to take a shower.
I shook my head. "He can't afford full meals. He hasn't had a job in 2 years. This month's paycheck is going to be his first in a long time."
He pursed his lips and nodded.
