Ming's pov:

The next week passed by in the blink of an eye.

Every day was the same routine again and again.

Get up, get ready, eat breakfast with p'Beam and Ella, drop her off at school before going to work.

P'Beam finishes a bit later than me so I head back home earlier than him.

His place is not that far from the company so it's not hard to walk there.

I did notice one thing different about p'Beam though.

He's more...

Talkative?

I don't know how to describe it too well.

But he's asking about my likes, dislikes, things I like to do.

I don't know why he's asking things like that but I answer him anyway.

It kind of feels like he's trying to get to know me and that makes me really happy. To have someone actually care about what I think and want.

But at the same time, it's a bit weird.

He's already doing so much for me by letting me stay with him temporarily without me having to pay anything. He doesn't need to go out of his way to get to know me.

And yet here he is.

Doing exactly that.

It stirs something in my chest.

A warm feeling.

I can recognize it all too well but I can't acknowledge it.

No.

I want to enjoy this warmth as much as I can before I eventually have to leave.

I don't want my feelings to ruin everything.

He won't ever look at someone like me like that.

He's such a successful CEO with so many other people waiting for him.

He wouldn't look at someone as ugly as me.

Never.

So I shouldn't get my hopes up either.

He's probably just trying to get to know me because he feels bad or something.

Nothing more.

Don't expect too much.

I was pulled out of my thoughts when I felt a tug on my sleeve.

I looked to my side and saw Ella sitting next to me looking at me with a questioning gaze.

We were sitting in the living room colouring some pages.

P'Beam wasn't home yet.

"P'Ming what are you thinking about? You look sad." She asked.

I shook off the thoughts quickly and smiled.

"It's nothing."

She frowned.

"P'Ming won't tell Ella why you're sad?"

I bit my lips. "It's nothing serious. Don't worry."

She's way too keen for her age.

Seriously.

She nodded.

"Ok then. Ella won't force p'Ming to tell. But Ella will stay with you until you're not sad anymore." She moved closer to me and hugged me.
