AS SOON AS HE READ THE WORDS ON THE SCREEN, he knew that his plan had failed. He had failed. And he had never failed before.
He had been repeating the plan over and over again in his mind, burning the blueprints of the building and the words from his handler into his mind to the point where he could resight it even if he was half beaten to death. There was just no way that one little picture could do this to him.
His head immediately went into overdrive as he aimed his gun at the screens and fired two bullets into all of them until they all went black, but the red sirens still ran. He knew that either way, they would know exactly where they were going and they would know where they going.
As soon as all the screens went black, he quickly crouched down and stole the keycards from all three of the guards before he used one of the cards to open the door and sprint out into the hallway. He could only just hear the sounds of marching and shouting coming his way, so he knew that he had to be quick about this.
He huffed out angrily as he threw out the empty bullet magazine and pulled out another from his pocket before clicking it into place and locking it. The shouting from behind him grew louder as he knew they must've found the communications room filled with dead bodies, which is not what he wanted.
Whenever he did this mission, normally people wouldn't find the bodies of those men or women suspicious because when the building would blow up, people would die anyway. They never seemed to be smart enough to think about the fact that they were the only dead soldiers with bullets in their heads.
His breaths were only slightly becoming faster as his void brown eyes scanned every hallway he turned down. He knew that the cameras were down so he knew that he didn't have to be very careful but he did try to avoid letting the cameras see his face as he knew how they worked.
He didn't expect this to happen on a mission he had done multiple times before. All he needed to do was get inside without being caught out, destroy the communications room so they can't call for backup, set the bombs, blow them up when he is far enough away and get out. It wasn't hard. He had done it before and nothing had ever gone wrong.
But this time, they were prepared. They knew he was coming and they knew what he was intending to do to them.
Either the people in charge of this specific base were smart, pr there was someone inside of Hydra secretly supplying them with information and their next plans. Whatever the reason for this person's treachery was, he'd find out snd deal with them accordingly.
Just as he turned down the corridor towards where he had left the truck, he froze in his tracks as he saw that the doors had been blocked by a thick metal shuttle. He frustratedly punched the metal door, a fist-sized dent being left behind as he pulled away.
