THE AVENGERS DIDN'T EXPECT TO BE MEETING TOGETHER on their day off in front of Nick Fury as he held out a file to their leader, Captain America aka Steve Rodgers. Tony was especially moody since he hadn't gotten sleep the night before, as per usual. He was one of the people who wanted to have a day off without having to get a surprise call from Fury about an 'urgent mission'.
"What's this about?" Steve asked he flicked through the file before handing it over to Natasha behind him, "I thought Hydra was done."
Fury sighed as he leaned on the table they all sat at. They hadn't seen him this stressed in a long time, not since their biggest Hydra mission. As the file was passed around, they all seemed to see that must be serious if this was coming from the higher-ups.
"Someone has been going around, destroying military-owned bases across the world," He announced, the silence showing that they were all quite surprised by this news, "3 have already been blown and we have a feeling we know which ones are going to be targeted next."
Three pictures suddenly appeared on the screen behind Fury as he spoke. Multiple people were running out of the burning building, most of them injured whilst others were merely covered in rubble and soot. Steve furrowed his brows and frowned as he saw all these injured soldiers struggling to escape the destruction.
The Avengers had finally believed that they had taken down all major Hydra bases and were finally starting to believe that one of their biggest enemies that they have been against for the longest time was going to finally be taken down completely and they would finally have some freedom from there
"Why would Hydra being going after Military bases?" Sam asked as he put the file on the table after everyone had skimmed through it and gotten the general idea of the situation.
They all had a similar reaction to the pictures and the words that came from Fury. All of them shared the same amount of hatred towards Hydra, especially the ones who had things taken from them because of Hydra like the Maximoff twins and Steve Rodgers.
Even though Steve got Bucky back and he was living in the tower so that he could recuperate and maybe even start helping out with missions, he still felt like a piece of his past was taken and now he had to help fix it. The twins had years of their lives taken from a separate group that originated from Hydra and even though they liked having their powers, they couldn't forgive the amount of pain they put them through.
Hydra had caused all of them some form of grief. Even the billionaire, playboy, philanthropist, Tony Stark has his trauma from these people - them being the reasons both of his parents were dead. He had, luckily, decided to allow Bucky to stay with them in the tower and was, at the moment, trying to make amends with Bucky and not
