(Y/N)'s POV:
I opened the front door to my house and walked inside, "Mom! I'm home!"
A head popped out from the kitchen door, my mother beaming at me.
"Hey kiddo! How was the barbecue?" She asked as I went to hug her.
"It was great! I even got to practice my skateboarding at Max's."
She smiled, "I'm glad you're having fun with your friends."
Her smile falters as she stared at me with a worried look. "Mom what's wrong?"
"It's nothing, sweetheart." She sniffled.
I raised an eyebrow at her. "It doesn't seem like nothing. Come on just spill it, what's bothering you?" I asked, wrapping my arms around her comfortingly.
She sniffled once again. "Okay, okay, you got me. It's just time flies by so fast. It felt like you were just a little baby in my arms yesterday..."
I looked at her in concern, she just gave me a reassuring smile as I led her to sit down.
"And now, you're going to college tomorrow. You've grown as a beautiful woman, you know that?" She laughed, making me shake my head playfully.
"Mom!" I whined, a smile dancing on my face.
"What? It's the truth!" She continues, "I wonder who will be the luckiest person to get a hold of my daughter's heart."
She caressed my cheek as I blushed at what she said. "Mom! Come on, it's not the time to talk about that!" I pouted.
Mom just shook her head and chuckled, "Okay, okay. But you know what time is it?"
I looked at her confused, "Is it time for dinner?"
"No, it's time for you to pack your things! We don't want you to be late for tomorrow morning's orientation, do we now?" She stands up and puts her hands on her hips.
I quickly stood up, "Oh right! I almost forgot! I'll be in my room if you need me!" I said as I ran upstairs.

I'm almost done with packing when I heard my bedroom door open. I turned around and saw my mom standing by the doorway holding something behind her back.
"Oh hey mom! I'm almost done, whatcha have there?" I asked, sitting on the bed.
She walked over and sat next to me, her hands still behind her back.
"(Y/N), I know that you're the type of girl that doesn't like jewelry or make up that much, and I have to buy something for you as a goodbye present. So..." She trailed off, finally showing what was behind her back.
My eyes widened as I stared at a brand new skateboard in her hands, shocked as it was the one I've been eyeing at the shop for a few weeks now.
"I know you love skateboarding, so I brought you a new board! Your old one's always getting wheel-less and I don't want you to get hurt while you're on that college game that you and the boys want to go on." She said, gesturing to the X-Games poster I have in my room.
"Also! It's in your favorite color! See?" She grinned, I laughed and grabbed the board from her hands.
I looked at it in awe, then back at her. I hugged her tight, "Thanks mom! I love it! I love you."
"I love you too, my sweet little girl." She wrapped her arms around me, "I'm going to miss you."
I pulled away and smiled, "I'll be home by Christmas." The both of us laughed.
"You take care of yourself okay?" She kissed my forehead and stood up, walking towards the door. "I will."
Mom grabbed the doorknob then looked back at me, "You should finish packing and sleep. You have to wake up early tomorrow."
"I'm done, mom. Don't you worry about a thing." I winked as I closed my duffle bag.
She was about to close the door behind her when she added, "Oh! And tell me when you and that Max boy finally date. I'm going to wait for a phone call, missy."
I flushed as I looked down and grabbed the (F/C) skateboard.
How did she even know I like him?
I shook my head and went to the bathroom to get ready to sleep.
