It's been one week since that motel. One week since Ethan last talked to me.
And I'm in my father's house again.
It was nothing special. He was finally home alone and me and Robert went there. We had dinner, he was only asking me some dumb questions and yelled from time to time. It was nothing surprising.
But he moved on from that quickly. By the next day he was nice to me again, asking me how my day's been and all that. We still didn't talk that much, but it was like usual.
I was still suspicious though. Every time I would look at him, I remembered my conversation with Ethan. Why do they hate each other? How do they even know each other? But I couldn't ask him about anything and it was killing me.
Honestly nothing else interesting happened. Except my million thoughts, I was just staying in that big house, alone most of the time. We would talk with Robert about the job he's getting, about his parents and about my birthday party.
Oh yeah, it's today.
I stare at the mirror, running my hands across the fabric of my white sundress. It's really pretty, probably my favorite one. The delicate fabric hugs my body perfectly, It has little white dots all over it, a belt and a V neckline. It's simple, It doesn't scream rich. Just a normal sundress.
My hair is down, only the two front strands of my hair are tied behind my head. There is a little glitter on my eyes, mascara and a red lipstick on my lips. I have some white high heels on, but keep converse in my bag for later.
I smile when I see two hands wrap around my waist from behind and Robert's face appears on my shoulder. He looks down at my dress in the reflection before his eyes draw back to me and a soft smile spreads on his face.
"You look really good."he mumbles, breaking the silence in this quiet walk-in closet.
"Thank you."I smile, leaning back against him and resting my head on his shoulder.
"But don't you think this dress is a bit...simple for you?"he asks, making me furrow my brows.
"I think it's pretty."
"It is pretty. You just...this is your nineteenth birthday and I thought you might want something bigger."he says, his fingers starting to stroke the skin of my stomach.
"No, I like it. I don't want anything that big anyway."I shrug.
Except the fact there are gonna be around a hundred people and I don't know most of them.
"My little humble girl."he smiles and kisses my cheek softly before pulling away from me "Are you gonna wear my present?"he asks.
The fresh memories from this morning start flashing through my brain. I woke up by his kisses and we messed around in bed before he got up and gave me some little box. I already knew what it was, but I was still shocked when I saw it.
It was a diamond necklace.
I have 2 of them from him, but each is very unique and has its memory that makes me smile every time I look at them. The first one was for our one year anniversary, the second: when we almost broke up after a small fight and now this is the third.
I nod with a smile trying to break on my face and blush starts spreading around my cheeks.
He gets out of the closet for a minute and when he gets back, he starts singing under his breath "You are the dancing queen, young and sweet, only nineteeeen"
I chuckle at his lyrics change and hold my breath when he opens it and come up behind me again. His hands go over my head with the necklace between them, then letting it drop in front of my neck. His fingers don't miss the chance to brush against my skin before he reaches my back and hooks it.
