"You're in the house
And I am here in the car"

Aylin Russell

"Oops! Sorry. Can I take this? Thank you."I smile at the waitress I almost bumped into, taking a glass from her tray.

I might be drunk.

Or I might be not.

We'll never know.

I've been in this shitty party for two hours and it gave me enough time to eat some cake. Steph didn't want hers, because she said she was 'trying to keep her figure' so I happily ate hers too. I drank...a lot of champagne and wine. A little too much probably.

And now I'm downing another glass filled with wine.

But of course, nobody knows I'm drunk. I've learned to be an expert at the poker face, besides nobody talked to me. It's only gonna show that I'm drunk if I start talking.

Fuck, now Lady Gaga's song is gonna be stuck in my mind for the rest of the evening.

All of this was supposed to make me happy. My birthday is supposed to make me happy. This just happens every time, it's boring and it makes me angry. It's like they just find an excuse to meet and it happens to be on my birthday.

Jade existed for three days and got better friends than I did for 19 years.

The waitress gives me a fake smile before she walks past me and I continue going through the crowd of people, slightly dancing to the music. Classical music is not that bad after all.

Robert left somewhere, probably talking about some 'business I wouldn't understand' with my father's friends. Stephanie is taking selfies with the other girls in the bathroom and my father only talked to me to introduce me to some of his friends and let them wish me happy birthday.

"Aylin!"I hear a woman's voice behind me and when I turn around, I freeze on my spot. It's Raven's mother- my ex-step-grandma.

"Happy birthday, my dear! I couldn't see you all evening!"she cups my burning cheeks and her cold hands and squeezes them.

Please, get me out of here.

Right after that she pulls me into a tight hug that knocks the breath out of me. I try to keep a smile on my face, but can't help the gasp for air when she pulls away.

"I wish you have the best evening and have fun."she cups my one cheek once again, stroking it.

"Yeah, I am. It's so fun."I try to sound as genuine as possible "Um, I gotta...go to, you know."

She furrows her brows while I slowly walk away backwards, flashing her an awkward smile. When I don't have her attention anymore, I turn around and head to the table where my ass was collecting matchwood all evening.

I thank god under my breath when I notice it's empty and I don't have to talk to anyone. Finding my chair, I take the bag that's hanging on the back of it. I can't wait to take those feet killers off as soon as possible.

But not here. I need to get away for a minute.

I quickly look around and sneak into the space between the big bushes and our house. There is a secret way I made for myself since I was around 10. Of course, it used to fit for my 10 year old body perfectly, but I don't think It will now. Still I gotta try.

I start speed walking, still looking around anxiously, and stop when I reach the fence. There is a huge tree right next to it and a hole in it. A hole where I put my leg in to get me up.
