how heavy is your heart today?
the same weight of a dish served rotten.THREE.
dinner.
i passed the threshold
and stumbled
into the kitchen
where i belonged
and rightfully
I saw myself
laid on the table
an apple
bitten
between
my teeth.
like the other times
i could not afford
a single grain of confidence
a leaf of faith
nor a grape of success
i couldn't afford to
indulge in a new
me that had
been waiting ever so longingly
to be planted at my stomach
and reach up my throat
to grasp at my hungry teeth.
my old self was ready to
be indulged in
once more,
and as simple
as the clock striking
twelve
history repeats
and old habits linger.
