how heavy is your heart today?
the same weight of a box of dog treats.SIX.
good girl.
to them,
i was some lap dog.
trained to sit quiet and look pretty.
to let the real people talk as i
only existed to be looked at.
my worthy achievements
were my shiny, pretty collar.
beautiful to look at, yet
suffocating to possess.
my pats on the back
were male validation.
and my shock collar,
the fear of their hands.
my voice served no right to
interrupt conversations,
being told to shut up
even if my lips were to part
with even a whimper.
i was submissive to the
largest extent they held.
i was a good girl.
but a dumb dog.
