"I'SE WONDERIN' IF YOU WOULDA REMEMBERED" Jack kept his arm around Ellie as the four of them walked back to 'Hattan.
"You don't seem to be phased by this do ya?" Davey asked boots as the two boys walked behind the older of the group.
"Nah, it's normal for them. They always flirtin' obliviously. You'se right about the not phased part though, dunno why we don't bring it to their attention" boots shrugged, fidgeting with a stick he found.
"course I remembered! How could I have forgotten huh?" She playfully poked his side. "8pm tonight" Jack looks down at the curly headed blonde.
"Deal" Eleanor nodded at his proposition. When they finally got to manhattan, the group went their separate ways, David and Eleanor heading home and boots and Jack heading to the newsboys lodging house.
"Eleanor?" Medda called from her room. "Hi mother" she replied, kicking her shoes off at the door and lying on the couch in their apartment above Irving hall.
The red haired woman walked out, in what you would call her normal clothes, and sat across from her.
"How was your day miss 'not-ladylike' " Medda wiggled her shoulders, knowing how much freedom her daughter had no matter what anyone said.
"Was great ma, honest. I'se had the best day. Jack's comin' to take me out again tonight" ellie smiled brightly at the thought.
"Oh is he now?" Her mom smirked. "Shut up, ya know what I meant" she shook her head, hiding her smile.
Medda got up and sat next to her on the couch, "darlin' you 'n that boy have had chemistry for years. It's 'bout time ya talked about your feelings for each other"
"Kelly and I'se just friends, why does no one thinks that?" Ellie huffed, crossing her arms.
"Do youse ever listen?" Her mother chuckled softly, turning her head to her. "I see youse both, walkin' round 'hattan laughing and snuggling all the time"
"Ma, no!" Ellie laughed, "youse ain't supposed to see all that."
"And at my shows, sitting as close as you can get in the crowd, singin' and dancing"
Eleanor got up, walking around the open kitchen and living room. "like I'se said, we's just friends"
"You're oblivious! Absolutely oblivious" medda scoffed, wishing her daughter would see how much they like each other.
