It's been about a month since homecoming.
Jesse and I haven't talked since.
Things have been kind of weird between us. When we see each other at school, we look at each other briefly, but that's it.
Caitlyn is in New York visiting her sister this week, so it's just Olivia and I.
Right now we're upstairs in her room just hanging out and listening to music.
"Olivia, Jesse's here!" Her mom yells upstairs.
"Wait, what?" I ask.
"Tell him to come up!" Olivia yells to her mom.
"Wait, what?" I ask again.
Jesse comes up in her room.
"Uh, hi." He says.
"Okay, you two are going to talk about what happened at homecoming." Olivia says as she stands up. "You guys haven't said two words to each other in almost a month. You two obviously like each other, so with that, I'm going to go help my mom with something."
Jesse sits down next to me on Olivia's bed.
"How long do you think she's going to be gone?" He asks me.
"I don't know." I say standing up. "Let me go find out."
"Rhylee wait." Jesse says standing up and walking behind me.
I stop and turn around.
"What?"
"I like you. Like, really like you." He begins. "I only got back together with Ali so I could try to move on, but that only made it worse."
"If you like me so much, why haven't you done anything yet?" I ask him.
"You're right." He says stepping closer to me. "I should do something about it."
Before I have time to think, he puts his hands on my cheeks and kisses me.
I'm taken back a little, but I kiss him back.
He pulls back a little and looks into my eyes.
I bite my bottom lip and smile.
He leans down and kisses me again, this time with a little more passion behind it.
His hands move down to my hips and he holds me closer to him; I wrap my arms around his neck.
I hear Olivia coming back upstairs, so I break the kiss.
"She's coming back." I whisper against his lips.
Jesse still has his hands on my hips, and I still have my arms wrapped around his neck; we're just standing there looking at each other.
"Well I see something happened between you two while I was gone." Olivia says with a smirk standing in the doorway leaning up against the side with her arms crossed.
We step away from each other and I look at the ground, smiling.
"I take that as a yes."
"Jesse! You're mom's here!" Olivia's mom yells from downstairs.
"I guess I gotta go." Jesse says a little disappointed. "I'll see you two later."
I sit back down on Olivia's bed and she joins me.
"Okay, what just happened?!" She basically yells.
"We kissed." I tell her.
"What?! Oh my gosh!"
"Well, it was a little more than that, but that's not important."
"Yes it is! I'm so happy for you!" Olivia says excitedly.
"Like you didn't know it was going to happen sooner or later."
"Yeah, true. But I didn't think he was going to do it so soon."
There was silence for a second.
"Did he give you his number?" She asks me.
"No, we were too busy doing other things before you came back."
She jumps off her bed and grabs her phone.
She's scrolling through her contacts, then hands me her phone.
"Here. I'm sure he won't mind."
I put his number in my phone and decide that I'll text him later.
The rest of the time I'm at Olivia's, we talk about what might happen between Jesse and I.
