After I had explained my plan to Lurking Death, we came to another problem. Even though I was moving around a lot of the time, I was not exactly training my body to manage long periods of physical workouts, such as: running for more than 10 minutes, lifting things larger than a rabbit, or long periods of walking. In short, I wasn't ready physically for any encounter I had with the bad blood or the hard meat. Yeah, I learned what those creatures from hell were, I also remembered where I saw them from.
Many months back when I was still in my house ... my old life, that night I was attacked, I ended up killing a black serpent creature and getting marked with the marking of a blooded huntress. This was exactly the same creature that had attacked me then and if I knew one thing, these creatures were tough to kill. If you weren't built with the strength of the hulk-like yautja then the creatures like us humans had to rely on our speed and smarts, we had to stay ahead of our opponent, no matter what or who it was.
However, here comes the larger problem. Due to my pregnancy and how unpredictable it is since neither of us has had any experience with pregnancies, well Lurking did help her bearer with her sibling but she has never been pregnant before, besides that, we were in the dark about this. We didn't want to risk anything.
So we were required to come up with a routine for me that did not involve me stressing my body out too much but also allowed me to slowly gain muscle and speed. Running was not quite what we're looking for and climbing was off the board before it was even on it so we came up with another two options: yoga and swimming.
Yoga would help loosen my muscles and help with my breathing while swimming would build my muscle while getting my body used to the long-term exposure of having to use my muscles, besides the normal walking around the forest of course. But with winter coming up quickly, swimming was soon going to be out of the picture, at least that is what I had thought until Lurking had reminded me of the mesh, it kept all cold out even when wet.
Speaking of winter, I finally figured out what Lurking was planning. She was storing large amounts of food in her ship which she had yet t show me. Her plan was to just freeze it until she or leviathan required food which was actually pretty smart, but she could have told me sooner than having to make me worry.
The trees were almost completely bare, leaves lay dead on the ground. The berry bushes still however bloomed which was great. The lake was also becoming far too cold to just bathe in when I didn't have my mesh/ armor on. Animals were also starting to become a rare sight, we were lucky now if we saw maybe one deer or rabbit a day. Thankfully inside our cavern the heat is trapped inside and we had more than enough fur blankets by now, it also helped to have a giant alien dog that radiated heat like the sun.
Currently Lurking and I sat around the fire opposite from each other, we had just had a lovely deer stew and were relaxing before we went to sleep. Tomorrow would be the beginning of my training and I was already ready to start training but my tired body decided it required sleep before I could do anything. I lay against a leviathan whose head against my thigh fast asleep but still very much alert while I pet its head. "Huh, come to think of it, I don't actually know what gender leviathan is ....but I guess it also doesn't matter"
Once again my gaze turned towards the statues, I remembered the conversation I had with Lurking about those statues...
Amari: "Hey Lurking, What exactly is this place? " Amari looks around pointedly towards the temple and statues, her question causes Lurking to pause almost as if she was considering what to say.
Lurking: " This Little Fury is the entrance to the temple where our kinds of children must go through a trial of strength, speed, and intelligence. This temple determines their right to be as a blooded hunter if they succeed or their death if they shall fail. It holds within our most worthy prey, the hard meat." She spoke proudly while looking towards the temple, Amari could only smile while watching her.
