Chapter 11: A shocking discovery

We only had another two months before we went back to school so me and my friends were trying to make every day count. Me and my friends had planned a day trip to go to a convention. Once we had our parents' permission we loaded up and hit the road. Reece was the only one who had a legit drivers licence and he had a blue jeep which his dad bought him for his birthday. The convention was huge. There were activities to do, loads of people to meet, different booths to go to. During the convention I didn't feel so good. I felt angry and stressed even though there was nothing worrying me. I decided that it was nothing to worry about and the feeling quickly subsided.

On the way home we came upon a fallen power tower. We got out and went to investigate but just as we were about a meter away my senses were telling me that something wasn't right. As I told the guys to pull back the cables came alive and joined together to form the shape of a human body, then the electrical energy generated and formed a face and a body. A quick identity scan recognised the foe as Protonus, he had the ability to control electricity, weaknesses; water. A blast of water wouldn't be enough to disable him, in order to fully weaken him we would have to draw him towards a large body of water. I must have been thinking out loud because I felt a blast of about 50 volts of electricity coursing through my body. And at that moment I felt the exact same feelings of anger and stress that I had felt at the convention.

Back at the den I went to my room to rest. As I closed my eyes I began to go into a dream-like state but unlike any dream I had ever had this one felt very realistic. I saw a giant black panther staring me in the eyes, its glowing white eyes burning into mine. And all of a sudden I felt an uncontrollable urge to destroy everything and everyone in my path. When I awoke I was relieved to find myself in my room and everything still in one piece, but after that horrible nightmare I now knew that something was wrong with me. I went to the door of Mystica's room and knocked to see if she was in, the door opened to reveal Mystica sitting on her bed reading a book.

"Mystica! I need your help!"

After I explained to Mystica what I had seen in my dream/ vision, she took me into a room with a large rectangular table. I lay down on the table as Mystica waved her hands over me. Once I was told I could sit up I asked if she found anything.

"Well anything?"

"You seem perfectly fine, unless you count your spirit feeding off your anger!"

"What do you mean?"

"Your panther spirit feeds off your stress, anger, anxiety and your other negative emotions, this in turn makes you destructive because knowing you, you tend to break things when you're mad."

"So what you're saying is the angrier I get, the more destructive I become!"

"Yes!"

"Is there any way to stop it?"

"There are two ways. One is to try certain activities to help you calm down, and the other is to find someone who can help you control your anger, Someone who you feel you have a connection with!"

"Thanks Mystica!"

I went back to my room and sat myself on my bed. Staring into space; I wondered what activities Mystica meant and more importantly what kind of connection. Knowing that music was the only thing that truly calmed me down, I switched on my headphones and played some of my favourite music. After some time the anger and stress had gone. I asked Mystica if I was healed so she gave me another spirit check and told me that I had calmed down but only temporarily. In order to keep my anger at a neutral level I would have to do different activities. I was relieved that as long as I did more activities the easier I could control my anger.

From the main room Reece called me on my communicator telling me he found a way to defeat Protonus. He told me to meet him in the lab as soon as possible. As soon as I was in the lab Reece told me his idea. Since Protonus controlled electricity we needed an insulator to protect us from the shock. I could picture in my head me and my team looking like numpties wearing armour made from wood, glass, paper, rubber and plastic. But as soon as I heard the word 'diamond' that thought quickly subsided. Reece's plan was to make an upgrade to our crystals with diamond armour and weapons. We asked the others for their crystals and got to work enhancing them with diamond weapons and armour. Once the upgrade was complete we gave back the crystals; and just in a nick of time; the alarm went off and we got a pin-point coordinate of Protonus's location.

This time we had a plan. Using our diamond artillery, we would draw Protonus to the nearest body of water. We used the map to try and find the nearest and biggest dam, lake or ocean. We eventually found a lake about 5 meters away from Protonus's location. We powered up and headed to our destination. After finally arriving at our destination, we found Protonus surrounded by cables; he was going to cut off the world's power supply. Before we could get near him a clan of Komodians leapt out and blocked our path. We armoured up and took them in less than half an hour. We allowed Protonus to chase us towards the lake. He must have seen through our plan because he was avoiding every square inch of the waters' surface.

"You think I'm a fool! You can't defeat me that easily!"

"You're right! And as the leader of this team I'll be the first to surrender!"

"Dude are you crazy?"

"I'm the one Scorpius wants!" As I approached him I psychically activated my quarts armour.

Then I removed all my diamond armour and diamond weapons. (what Protonus didn't know was that I had secretly made a transparent armour made of quartz and was holding an iron axe). As he shot an estimate of 800 volts from his fingers I reached out the axe with both hands and caught the blast half way. Since it was his own energy Protonus couldn't let go of the axe. Using all my strength I threw the axe into the lake with Protonus trailing behind it. As Discharge hit the water there was an uproar of waves as Protonus met his end.

The others looked at me in awe as if I had become a god. "Dude how did you know that was going to work?" "Simple I knew Protonus would know what we were planning so I had to think of a back-up plan! Quartz is an insulator and if you encase an electrical conductor in an insulator the energy has nowhere to go!"
